    We have just received this very rare and hard to find fantastic Victorian Aesthetic Highly Carved Walnut Canterbury Music / Magazine Stand circa 1880 that offers its old dark original finish with an abundance of intricate carvings of musical instruments, sunflowers, fox, ducks, Swan, Rabbit, scrolls, ribbons , geometric carvings and incised carvings...this piece has it all......a fine piece of art and craftsmanship from the 19th century, a real unique piece! The carving details on this piece are stunning and a fine example of the flare pieces have from the 19th century.

     This canterbury measures a total height of 43 inches to the top of the handle at the center, a total width of 24 inches, and total depth of 16 inches with the sides closed and with the side open a depth front to back off 25 inches. , height from the floor to the middle shelf measures 15 1/2 inches and this piece weighs approximately 35 lbs. We believe the old dark finish to be original and does show some wear hear and there , and the finish is so dark it almost appears to be ebonized. This piece is solid and sturdy and the side compartment door's hinges are nice and tight and the doors work fine. This piece does show an age crack on each end that is very common with pieces of this age, which I have tried to show in the pictures, but nothing major in my opinion.  A fine early 19th century piece that is very functional, and sturdy and would compliment most any decor.  Please view and use the pictures as part of the description and ask all questions and concerns before purchase.
