Description: Being presented for sale is this adorable 19th century child size rosewood with string inlay marble top washstand with bowl and swivel mirror. This piece is so sweet and is made to emulate a full size adult washstand but a charming small size. The round mirror has the remnants of the old paper label and swivels front to back,towel rails on each side, even a little storage drawer beneath the marble. The stretcher shelf at the base is a place for a small pitcher and the shelf offers beautiful string inlay. This piece is raised up on four ring turned legs that have been skillfully grain painted to look like rosewood which is a fine 19th century craft that is virtually non-existent today. A truly special piece for that collector of 19th century children's things or a fabulous piece to display in a Victorian child's room setting. Measurements: This splendid child size washstand measures 39 inches in height,height from the floor to the marble top is 23 3/4 inches,23 1/2 inches wide and 12 1/4 inches deep and weighs approximately 20 lbs. The original round mirror measures 8 inches across, and the bowl measures 8 3/4 inches wide by 2 1/2 inches high, the opening in the marble measures 5 1/4 inches across. Condition: The old original mirror does show silver loss and wear. The marble has a seam at the front and the back where the hole is cut out for the bowl I think this may have been made that way. The washbowl is not original to the piece but is an older one and marked as shown in the pictures and is free from chips or cracks. Normal nics and scuffs expected with pieces of this age.
