Being presented for sale is this Beautiful Victorian Oak & Tiger Oak high Back Bed with a large Tiger Oak Rolling Pin Top circa 1900. We believe this stunning bed to have its rich original finish and offers large tiger oak rolling pin tops on the head-board and foot-board with lovely applied carvings underneath. This bed has its original paper label intact on an inner side rail " Quinn-McGowen Furniture Co., Undertakers and Embalmers , Home Furnishing Goods, Wilson, NC ". Handwritten on the tag is the original customers name which I cannot make out, and below is LaGrange, NC. This is a nicely made antique oak bed that positively has a beautiful presence!
This Victorian High Back bed measures a total height at the head-board of 70 inches, height of the foot-board measures 34 1/4 inches,the height to the flat portion of the side rails measure 19 1/2 inches.The outside measurements of the bed are 56 1/2 inches wide by 76 1/2 inches long and the inside mattress area measures 54 inches wide by 73 1/2 inches long and should accommodate a full size mattress set nicely but one should always measure their mattress set to assure proper fit. The total weight of this bed is approximately 110 lbs.
This Victorian Oak High Back Bed is solid and sets up tight and sturdy and has a charming presence one expects from furniture of the Victorian era. This bed does have its rich old original finish and I have shown close-up pictures of the age and character marks that are present just to point out that this bed as with all antiques are not perfect but have time worn marks of character and usage they have acquired over they past 100 plus years.
