I am pleased to offer for sale this American Golden Oak Larkin Desk with Fancy Gallery Top circa early 1900's. This desk is a fine example of the Larkin Soap Co. Desks that were premiums to homemakers in the early 1900's. This splendid desk offers what we believe to be the original beveled mirror which measures 13 1/2 inches wide by 7 1/2 inches deep, and offers a working lock and key for the desk portion. The back also has the original paper label of the Larkin Soap Company.
This desk measures a total height at the back of 62 inches, total height to the top shelf is 45 inches,height from the floor to the side shelves measures 53 inches, a total width of 30 1/8 inches, and a depth of 12 inches. Opening the fall front desk portion reveals the desk cubbies and a ample writing surface that measures 28 1/2 inches wide,25 inches deep and the height from the writing surface to the floor measures 29 1/2 inches, and this desk weighs approximately 65 lbs. The bottom portion offers book shelf, display space with its two bottom shelves , the lower (top) shelf measures 9 1/2 inches deep and measures 28 3/4 inches wide, the lower shelf measures 9 1/2 inches deep and also measures 28 3/4 inches wide.
This fine Larkin desk is in excellent antique condition and has a wonderful presence all of its own. This desk is structurally solid and sturdy and would make a great addition to any room of your home and would make a nice desk area for your laptop computer.
