American Empire LARGE Crotch Mahogany Washstand Carved Paw Feet c1880's

Being offered for sale is this American Empire Mahogany & Crotch Mahogany Washstand with Towel Rod and Carved Paw Feet circa 1880's. This is a larger size washstand with two rounded front storage drawers in crotch mahogany with the original glass pulls, dove-tailed ends on the drawers, powerful S scroll supports and carved Paw Feet with plume carvings at the ankles, with hidden casters intact on all four feet.
This 19th century washstand measures 48 inches in height from the floor to the top of the towel rod supports, height to the front portion from the floor measures 30 1/4 inches, with a width of 37 inches depth of 23 inches and weighs approximately 75 lbs. The bottom display shelf measures 6 inches high from the floor.
This washstand is solid and tight and has a beautiful presence. We believe this piece to have its original finish and there are some small veneer repairs on the left side by the drawer and some veneer chips on the bottom of the scroll shelf supports as well as a small part of the plume above the left foot is missing, this is typical of these Empire pieces and doesn't affect the integrity of the piece by no means, just a part of the time worn characteristics these old pieces have endured over the past 100 years or so. Just a splendid Empire washstand that would compliment most any Empire decor.
