Being offered for sale is this Spectacular English Victorian Antique 19th century Telescoping Oil / Kerosene Lamp with Ruby Glass Font and Etched Ball Shade. When you first look at this lamp if gives you the impression that its simply an antique oil lamp that has been placed on a walnut pedestal stand........but its not your typical oil lamp by no means. This antique lamp actually adjust in height by simply lifting up on the lamp up under the font...the length of the wood stem of the lamp is hidden in the pedestal..thus allowing you to easily adjust the total height from 59 1/2 inches to 76 inches! The lamp stops at any height you would like it to between the lowest and highest point and simply push down to lower and pull up to raise the height! Isn't this incredible!
This fabulous find features its original etched ball shade, double wick burner, and original double riser knobs each with porcelain ends. The ruby glass font is also original and the brass collar and base has been professionally polished. This lamp is ready for use and has newer wicks intact just waiting for lamp oil.
The fine walnut pedestal base is 41 1/2 inches to the floor and the diameter of the wood top measures 15 inches and the distance between the tripod knorl feet measures 18 1/2 inches. This lamp weighs 15 lbs total.The lamp portion has no chips or cracks and appears to be in excellent antique condition, the walnut base does have an age crack on one side which I have shown in the pictures and there is a chip of wood missing from one foot.
Just a fantastic, very unique Telescoping Antique Oil / Kerosene Lamp......I have to say the most unusual one I have ever come across!
