The majestic design of this reproduction high chest of drawers is taken from a 3rd quarter 18th Century Philadelphia Rococo antique. More commonly referred to as a highboy, this chest captures many of the period's most popular design elements. Starting with a graceful open "swan neck" pediment and purposeful moldings that end in delicate flower pedal rosettes, this chest is crowned with three deftly hand carved urns with spiraling flame finials. The upper case is framed with fluted quarter columns and has eight thumb-molded drawers. The top drawer is faced with a beautifully carved medallion. The lower case has matching fluted quarter columns, five thumb-molded drawers with a matching medallion drawer. The lower case has a finely skived apron with a carved central bell flower. The drawers of this highboy, which offer great storage, are enhanced with fine reticulated sand cast brasses. This chest rests on graceful leaf carved cabriole legs with web shaped ball and claw feet.
