Description: It is an original antique copper engraved print over 230 years old with the plate marks clearly embossed around the margin as seen in the pic. It is from Christopher Francis Moore's Travels into the Inland Parts of Africa, c. 1770. Most of the birds were originally drawn by Jean Bosman as stated at the top, except for one by Barbot. The annotations in the title are humerous, the Pokko is described as "most ugly" and the #8 as a "fine bird" and #5 as a "beautiful bird." Over all a very nice example of this work. It is being sold as single sheet not framed, matted or mounted as seen in the second pic.
Size: The image area measures approximately 5 1/2 by 8 inches on a 9 by 15 1/2" page with a very wide margin all around as seen in the pic.
Condition: The print is in Good to Very Good condition for its age, blank on the reverse, printed on a heavy paper. It is actually much better than shown, the browning in the pic is much lighter and hardly an issue. Other than the damp stain at the top and come cockling of the edges, it is very clean with a nice strong impression that would frame up well, see the pic for more on condition. The pics are of the actual print.
