Title: Wolfe's Interview with Pitt, Before his Departure for Canada
Description: It is an authentic antique steel engraved print approximately 150 years old. It is from Robert Tomes' Battle for America by Sea and Land, published in New York by Virtue and Company, 1861. There is a copyright in fine print at the bottom that varies in date from 1859-1861 depending on the print. The publisher's address is stated in the bottom center, with the name of the engraver in the bottom right margin and the name of the artist of the original work in the bottom left. Typically, the engraver worked from an original painting to produce an engraved linear version that was etched onto a steel plate for production. There is a very high degree of craftsmanship in the line work and cross hatching of these engravings, that cannot be equaled in modern printing methods. It is being sold as a single sheet, not mounted nor framed. Overall, a beautiful print that would frame up nicely!
Size: The image area measures approximately 5 by 7 1/2 inches on a 8 by 11" page as seen in the pic.
Condition: The print is in Very Good to Excellent condition for its age printed on high cotton stock, blank on the reverse, basically as seen in the pic. Overall, it is very clean with crsip line work that would frame up nicely. The pics are of the actual print.
