Description: It is an authentic antique map approximately 135 years old with original hand color wash and centerfold as issued. The map is from Andreas' Illustrated Historical Atlas of the State of Iowa, published in Chicago, 1875. A copy of the title page of the atlas is included for authenticity. In general, it shows railroads, post offices, county seats, highways, townships, churches, schools, creeks, forests and other details. There are two sides to the sheet, so you would have to choose one side to frame. One side shows the large Iowa Map and the other side shows a bird's eye view of the town of Decorah and opposite is a view of Muscatine City.
Size: The map image measures approximately 16 1/2 by 26 inches on a 17 1/2 by 27 1/2" page with a margin all around.
Condition: Both sides are in Good or better condition with overall tonal ageing and a slight darkening around the edges, basically as seen in the pics. The large Iowa map is very nice with only a couple of light stains around the margin and a short half inch split at the end of the centerfold, usually this map is found in much worst condition. The reverse side is more aged with some glue residue stains along the centerfold tab side and some smudging around the edges and few minor spots on the images. but both birdseye views would frame up well. The pics are of the actual map.
