Description: It is an authentic Antique map over 150 years old with original handcoloring and centerfold as issued. The map has a copyright date of 1839 in small print in the bottom margin, alhtough it is from an 1850 edition of Roswell Smith's Concise and Practical System of Geography (New York: Daniel Burgess & Co., 1850). A copy of the title page is included for authenticity. The map is not mounted nor matted, being sold as a single sheet as seen in the first pic. A great map showing the stove pipe Republic of Texas with clearly defined International Borders. a large California and Oregon and Nebraska Territories.
Size: The map image measures approximately 10 1/2 by 17 1/2 inches on a 11 1/2 by 18 1/2" page with a margin all around for matting as seen in the pic.
Condition: It is in Fair condition for its age with overall light tonal ageing and original handcolor. It is basically as seen in the pic. The centerfold has been repaired reinforced on the reverse with acid free linen paper and archival wheat paste, so it can no longer be folded. There is some minor paper loss along the fold as can be seen in the pic. It does have a rich patinea with some light staining, mainly candle wax and handling smudges and bent corners, all can be seen in the pics. The pics are of the actual map and accurate of the condition and color. The color is still very bright as shown and the paper is still very pliable.
