Description: It is an authentic Antique map approximately 150 years old with original handcoloring and a centerfold as issued. It is from an 1859 edition of Cornell's Companion Atlas to Cornell's High School Geography (New York: Appleton, 1859), which is the more elaborate and accurate companion to the simpler school geographies produced by S.S. Cornell. The map has an earlier copyright date of 1855 in small print in the bottom margin. The name of the atlas with Cornell's name appears in the title block and the publisher's details are in the bottom center. The map is not mounted nor matted, being sold as a single sheet as seen in the pics. An interesting map showing the Western states as extending as far as Missouri and including Tennessee and Arkansas and the Southern States shown below including a large Virginia. On the reverse side are two maps of the Mid Atlantic States and Mexico with the binding tab attached.
Size: The map area measures approximately 12 1/2 by 20 inches on a 13 1/2 by 22 1/4" page as seen in the first pic with margin all around.
Condition: It is in Fair to Good condition for its age with overall tonal aging and original handcoloring, basically as seen in the pics. There is some darkening and a few random smudges and light spots as seen in the pics. Overall a rich antique appearance that would frame up well. The pics are of the actual map and very accurate of the condition and color.
