Description: It is an authentic engraved antique map with original handcoloring and the desirable decorative border. It is from the 1869 Edition of Johnson's Family Atlas. It has a copyright date of 1869 along the bottom border. A copy of the title page is included for authenticity. It is not matted nor framed being sold as a single sheet as shown in the main pic. This is a very rare map in which Johnson has resurected the Colton border. Johnson bought the Colton Company around 1860 upon Colton's retirement after being an employee of Colton as a mapmaker for several years. The border only apperared in a couple of editions of the Johnson Atlas and is only found on the Minnesota map.
Size: The map image measures approximately 17 by 23 inches on an 18 by 26 1/2" page with a margin all around for framing.
Condition: The map is in Good condition with overall tonal aging and original hand color with a centerfold as issued. It is basically as seen in the pics with very bright color. We repaired on short tear on the centerfold and there are a couple of inch separations at the ends of the centerfold, one small nick and a soft fold on the corner. Overall the map image is very clean and would frame up nicely. The pics are of the actual map.
