Description: It is an original copper engraved antique map by Emanuel Bowen (1714-1767) published in Britannia Depicta, London: Bowen & Owens, 1720. Bowen adapted the map from John Ogilby's earlier English Road Atlas to conform to this smaller pocket version for travelers. The ribbon road format that was common during the era is very interesting showing most everything along the way such as houses, churches, bridges, patches of forests, mountains, with summaries and commentaries of the local towns and the coat of arms of the larger towns. It is a double sided sheet with maps on each side so you will have to choose a side if framing. The map is not mounted nor matted, being sold as a single sheet as seen in the overall pic. A Beautiful Antique Map of Historical Value that will frame up nicely.
Size: The page measures 5 1/4 by 8 inches (14 x 20cm) as seen in the pic.
Condition: The map is in Good condition for its age. The binding side is untrimmed with one hole along the edge as seen, otherwise very clean, basically as seen in the pics. Overall, it has a nice antique appearance that would frame up well. The pics are of the actual map.
