Actor Nakadai Tatsuya, as the grandfather, is still as impressive as when he made Kurosawa's magnificent films even more magnificent. It tells the story of elderly fisherman and his granddaughter, who live in a small fishing village in Hokkaido. It is also a road movie driven by family dynamics, as the two set out on a pilgrimage to live in Tokyo.
 
On the remote northern island of Hokkaido, In a small fishing village, tensions rise between the rebellious 19-year-old Haru and her crippled grandfather, who she reluctantly looks after. In order to find a solution, the odd couple go looking for relatives who could care for the old man. It turns into an uneasy journey, filled with clashes and surprises, but it is also a journey on which Haru accepts her responsibilities and where revelations lead to a new-found trust and understanding.
