After rescuing Katsu Rintaro (founder of the Japanese Navy), a small group of Iga ninja known as the "Shadow Warriors" play a pivotal role in the bloody civil war that has gripped Japan since the arrival of Perry's Black Ships in 1853.
As the various factions strive to restore power to the emperor and end the Shogunate they call into play not only the devious Koga ninja, but also the 'Wolves of Mibu', the dreaded Shinsengumi!
Surrounded on all sides by enemies from within the nation while the navies of the West look for an opportunity to take over the Land of the Rising Sun, Hattori Hanzo's Shadow Warriors lead the way to a new world.
