TANGE SAZEN (1961) - Sazen and the Princess
Price:  $11.00
Description:
Tange Sazen: Nuretsubame Itto-Ryu - An enjoyable continuation of the Otomo Ryutaro series of Tange Sazen films. Much of the story is a rehash of other versions, but enough is tweaked to still make it interesting. In truth much of the pleasure of the film is the energetic performance of Otomo.
1732 and the Restoration of the Nikko Shrine is about to begin. Hearing rumors of a secret war chest of gold the Yagyu Clan is designated the task so as to weaken their monetary holdings and bring about the demise of the Yagyu.
Unfortunately there is no hidden gold and the Yagyu are finding it impossible to raise the necessary funds, which is exactly what those behind the plot have anticipated.
The conspiracy to destroy the Yagyu Clan thickens when Tange Sazen, being the cantankerous sort, takes on a contract to kill Yagyu Genzaburo, the younger brother of the Clan's Lord.
Meanwhile Sazen befriends Mitsu, a young blind girl (who turns out to be the missing Yagyu Princess).
But when Mitsu and Genzaburo's fiancee are kidnapped and facing certain death, Tange and Genzaburo join forces to combat those that would do them harm, and there's hell to pay as Sazen swears "I'm going to let my sword soak in blood".
