Based on a true historic figure, the film depicts the life of Yamada Nagamasa, a Japanese Samurai who rose to prominence during the Sukothai Dynasty in Ayothaya (Thailand) in the 17th Century.
Yamada, a Ronin who had left Japan after losing his Lord and Master, is retained by the Japanese Envoy to Thailand, where he assists the locals in defending the country from it’s oppressors in the south.
However, one night when ambushing the enemy, he discovers that they are in fact Japanese in disguise. Before he can act on the information however, he and his men are attacked. Yamada, left for dead, would have died if not for the intervention of some Muay Thai Warriors, who take his wounded body back to their village to recuperate.
Hiding out in their village, Yamada finds himself at peace with the locals and trains in their martial art, using it to compliment his own style. Feeling indebted to the people, he volunteers to be one of the King’s own bodyguards, and must enter a grueling tournament in order to be picked...
Impressive action, with a good mix of hand-to-hand combat and brutal swordplay equals high-impact martial arts entertainment in the traditions of the old school.
