Description:
Hyappatsu hyakuchu - (aka 100 Shot, 100 Killed) A James Bond-ish knock-off in that glossy, late '60's Japanese way. After being mistaken for an Interpol agent, Andrew Hoshino, an ordinary man going on vacation, takes up the mission of the dead agent and finds himself caught between two rival gangs intent on winning the favor of a notorious arms dealer. This was one of Toho's 007 inspired capers. Most of these have never been seen by Western eyes. Featuring a great shoot 'em up, blow 'em up finale, a fun music score by Masaru Sato (who scored everything from Godzilla vs the Sea Monster to Kurosawa classics like "Yojimbo" and "The Hidden Fortress"), and leading man Akira Takarada sporting a devil-may-care attitude whether he's beating down a bad guy or loving a lady, "100 Shot, 100 Killed" makes for solid, lighthearted spy movie entertainment that puts it among the best of the Nipponese Bond-a-likes.
