Since each episode is reduced to 45 minutes, you get to the climatic fight a lot sooner, and since the plot has to be simplified to accommodate less characters, the films are easier to follow.

A bell is ringing. A blind street performer throws his knives at his wife as a target. Despite his blindness, the couple love each other and are happy.

Episode 16. THE NAKED CRYBABY ASSASSIN
Because of Ichi's help, a no-good samurai has captured a notorious criminal. Expecting praise and promotion, instead he’s been ordered to go back and arrest Ichi. Reluctantly, the samurai goes to see Ichi.
Episode 17. THE PROSTITUTE FLOWER ON A FOGGY NIGHT
Ominaeshi is written as "A prostitute flower." A young girl wants to save her sister who is a prostitute. In order to save her, she has to put herself in that dark world. But before the hands of beasts touch her, Ichi's sword shines.
