The Funan Kingdom was located in where nowadays known as central and eastern parts of Thailand including areas along the southern Mae Kong River basin. The Funan
coins were made of silver and stricken with the distinctive
mark of the Rising Sun. Those coins were available in three sizes with some varieties of imprinted designs which greatly reflected the Indian influence. Most excavating sites of
Funan silver coins were in Thailand, particularly in
Prachin Buri, Chon Buri, Nakhon Pathom, Suphan Buri, Lop Buri, and Nakorn Si Thammarat Provinces. Funan silver coins came in three different sizes. Each of these coins
had an imprinted mark of the rising sun on one side. The
other side depicted an image of Sri Vatsa, a temple with the sun and the moon at the top, a Swastika and a Bhadrapitha on both sides, as well as three spots at the far bottom.
