If you’ve been online marketing for any amount of time you’ll know that there’s one thing that counts more than any product, offer or new concept that you have to market. That one thing of course is YOUR KEYWORDS!

The problem with marketing anything is that you need to know EXACTLY which keywords within your niche or micro niche are going to have the highest “CI” (Commercial Intent,… that’s the buying intent that is associated with any particular keyword phrase,.. and yes it can be measured,- to a degree!) and which of those words have a decent monthly search volume at the same time as having a relatively low number of competing pages. GET THIS RIGHT AND YOU CAN GET ONTO GOOGLE PAGE 1 in a relatively short amount of time (usually under 2 or 3 weeks but quite often within days).

THIS IS THE PART THAT MOST MARKETERS GET DEAD WRONG! The thing is that you only need to be a little bit off target to completely miss the action entirely!
That’s why you need to do laser focused keyword research and then be able to set up your sales or affiliate page so that it combines all of the powerful SEO factors together with your keywords to create a powerful webpage that Google will love and will reward you with high ranking for.

Here’s the thing though,- UNLESS YOU HAVE A LOT OF TIME TO INVEST AND HAVE ACCESS TO THE BEST SOFTWARE AVAILABLE YOU COULD BE FIGHTING A LOSING BATTLE.

I’ve been a keen student of keyword analysis and SEO for the past 3 years now and I can tell you that I’ve made a TON of costly mistakes that have virtually bled me dry in PPC costs and wasted a truckload of effort in pursuing bad niches and setting up websites and landing pages in less than optimized fashion. However, not being one to be easily deterred, I pressed on and learnt more and more as time progressed. But just during the past 3 months I’ve really started to crack this whole keyword thing open simply by using the Google Keyword tool and cross referencing it with competing page volume searches and examining many of the competing websites that appear on Google Page 1.
But without doubt, the ultimate tool I have come to rely on and become very adept in using is Market Samurai. It’s not a free tool but it really is very accurate and powerful when used properly and in a systematic and knowledgeable way. This isn’t an advert or promo for Market Samurai,.. I’m just sharing my perspective and results in a relevant fashion.

With my painstakingly developed skills and my small cache of powerful tools I can now look into any niche and determine the best (least competitive and highest yield) keyword phrases and then incorporate them into my landing pages so that they get ranked highly. In fact,.. my objective is always to rank on Google page one in the first 4 results otherwise the click through rate per search volume just isn’t high enough.
To be specific,.. it’s the keyword phrases that you need to be focusing on in order to get all the FREE organic search engine juice that Google & Yahoo have to offer. Even more so if your paying for PPC you still need to be getting your keywords right otherwise you just won’t get in front of the buyers you’re aiming for.

The reasons why it is so important to know how to use WordPress correctly: If you’re not using WordPress as a landing page system then you’re at somewhat of a disadvantage,.. and if you’re thinking that you can just use a WordPress template/theme to use with a simple headline, video, and an optin box with a few arrows prompting a sign up, then you’re mistaken if you think that Google will view such a template/theme as a “blog” because they are smarter than that and there are certain things that you should be doing in order to fit the Web2.0/blog criteria that they’re going to rank more highly.
Of course using WordPress is simply an option rather than an absolute prerequisite BUT it is a very worthwhile and advantageous option,.. and when you’re aiming for Google Page 1 that really counts for something!

3. The number of competing pages for your EXACT keyword phrase (not just a broad-match). This is a critical factor in selecting the right keyword phrases. The lower this number is,- the higher the chances are of click-through success is provided you have decent REALISTIC search volume.
4. The estimated number of click-throughs that could be expected for your keyword phrase (assuming a Google Page 1 top 4 position). If this figure is too low then you’d be better pursuing another phrase from which decent click-through rates are more likely.
