Offering an antique tapestry in a beautiful wood frame.
- I'm in over my head with this beautiful antique tapestry, I make no pretense to know much about it:)
- purchased this at an estate sale in Ohio....loved the frame and the muted, faded colors of the tapestry
- some
internet research of a piece just like this one that sold on ebay in
2007 suggests this is an old French Tapestry from the 1800's, BUT I
don't want to mislead my customer into thinking that I know this for
sure.
- looks like a parlor room...maybe after a dinner party...with 3 distinct scenes
- ladies and gentleman in Renaissance period clothing
- worn and faded with damage to the threads in several places
- can't
tell if it's dusty or worn or faded where it appears so light. I tried
brushing it with a brush but it didn't change the appearance
- no glass, the tapestry is backed with cardboard.
- you can see on the back the cardboard has had a paper dust cover at one time but has been torn off
- cardboard is bowed towards the back from years of storage...I imagine is has drawn moisture
- Outside dimensions of the wood frame measure about 58.5" wide and 25" high including the ornate top of the frame
- frame is nicked, chipped and worn in places as pictured
- notice the green aged finish on the top of the frame
- not perfect by any means but charming in a shabby country way
- shipping
seems high, even to me! I have a feeling it is because of the
size...not so much of the weight. Any over-payment of shipping paid by
the buyer will be refunded at time of shipment.
- please see all photos, they are part of the description
- look around our store for more great items, we LOVE to combine shipping:)

Policies:
All of my items are acquired at local
Estate Auctions and Thrift Stores, so they are used or vintage in nature. I usually don't
clean or launder any items, as each buyer/collector has their own methods of
doing so.
While we are a non-smoking household, I have no way of knowing
about the habits of the former owner. We do have a cat.
It is impossible to be an expert in
all areas of the many different items that I sell. I am honestly
representing the item to the best of my knowledge and ability.
