Published by the US Department of Commerce, International Trade Administration, the document was originally offered for sale directly to the public by the Superintendent of Documents, U.S. Government Printing Office, Washington D.C.

This 38-page report was prepared under the general direction of Stuart S. Keitz, Director, Office of Automotive Industry Affairs. Albert T, Warner, Director, Motor Vehicle Division, was responsible for the direct supervision of the project. Edward B. Leviton, Ph.D, served as the principal analyst and drafer of the report, and Kerry Lanham prepared all financial analyses. Other members of the research team included Michael Anderson and Robin Gaines.
