Endocrine Disorders, part of the Springhouse Corporation's Nurse's Clinical Library series was published in 1984.
The book supplies both theoretical and practical information about endocrine disorders. An introductory chapter reviews the principles of normal endocrine anatomy and physiology, the function and effects of hormones, and the pathophysiology of hormonal imbalance.
Endocrine assessment techniques are reviewed as well as diagnostic tests and review of normal/abnormal values.
Successive chapters discuss specific endocrine disorders which include, but are not limited to: disorders of the pituitary gland, thyroid and parathyroid glands, adrenal gland, pancreas, and gonads.
Interspersed throughout the text are numerous color diagrams, anatomic drawings, charts, graphs, patient/family education teaching aids, and supplementary materials.
While published 26 years ago and drugs and equipment have changed, much of the content remains relevant today.
This book has served my practice well for the past 26 years and now in readying for retirement, it is time to pass it along to someone else to use.
