Strong Forged Pistons The shape of each forged piston has been re-designed to optimize its contact with the cylinder sleeve for increased durability. Forged means that the aluminum alloy is compressed in molds under extreme pressure, making them much more dense than cast aluminum pistons. Their higher tensile strength increases resistance to fatigue, high temperatures, and wear.
New Engine Control Module Program The 'fuel map' for each horsepower of V MAX Series 2 engine has been re-programmed to help reduct combustion and exhaust temperatures. This increases durability of the engine without compromising power.
Precision Blen Oil Injection System The oil injection 'schedule' for each V MAX 3.3 L Series 2 engine has been re-caligrated to provide a more precise amount of oil for any given engine setting, based on engine speed and load. The result is increased durability.
Heat Treated Crankshaft And Connecting Rods Vital components such as crankshaft and connecting rods have been specially heat treated to enhance not only reliability but long term engine durability as well.
Heat Treated Gears The pinion gear, forward gear, and reverse gears have all be specially heat treated to increase hardness. That increases durability and helps provide the kind of reliability you've come to expect from Yamaha.
Large Water Seperator With Water Sensor All V MAX Series 2 engines feature a large. on-engine water separating fuel filter with a water sensor. This sensor provides both visual and audible warnings should water be detected in the fuel. Used in conjuction with Yamaha's 10-Micron Water Seperating Fuel Filter, it helps separate water and contaminants from the fuel before they can reach the engine's other filters and fuel injectors.
Special Piston Rings V MAX 3.3 L Series 2 engines are equipped with unique bottom piston rings that incorporate 'bypass grooves' every 30 degrees (12 times around each ring), which allows the precise amount of oil to travel upward to lubricate the top piston rings and upper cylinders. The upper piston rings use a special ion plating to resist wear and prevent oil consumption in the combustion chamber.
