Hello Bill,

If this is a mistake, it was a mistake that was generated by the ebay API software. I was successful in replicating the error directly on the ebay marketplace. Perhaps this is a new change. As I mentioned previously, I could not find any obvious documentation on the ebay site to explain this-However at this time your eBay Store listings cannot have a secondary category specified. If added, you will continue to receive this error 36.

Regards,

Ed

Hello Bill,

In addition, the first two examples that you provided are 7 day fixed price listings (not 30 day or GTC eBay store listings). The third example that you provided is only showing the one eBay category. While sometimes the second eBay category will automatically be rejected for eBay store listings, that is not always the case.

Regards,
Nathan

Thanks for your input into this Bill K. I agree. I have been relisting items into my eBay store for a very long time and I virtually ALWAYS list in two categories. Since when does eBay EVER restrict an income opportunity? Never!

That answer simply isn't the case. I've been relisting into my eBay store from the auction format for YEARS and, again, I virtually ALWAYS list every item I sell in two categories (anyone who doesn't is missing a lot of opportunities!).

Since when did eBay suddenly decide that things in the store format can't be in two categories? We will call our eBay account executive tomorrow and find out if this is, in fact, the case ... and will post the response we get.

lennonhall,
Sorry to but in and this has nothing to do with your problem but do you really get more sales using two catagories? I always assumed the average buyer searched the entire site and the catagories didn't really matter. have you seen a signifigant difference in sales? Thanks.

Yes Paulvs, we do. Significantly more. Last year we moved from Silver to Gold Power sellers and we changed several things about the way we do business and one of them was that we started listing virtually everything with BOLD type (it's not much more money) and in TWO categories. Of course listing fees went up considerably but, the more you sell, the less a percent of your gross the listing fees are.

We are antique dealers and, for example, for furniture we list in Antiques:furniture and in Home&Garden:Furniture. Most decorative collectibles can be listed in multiple categories. Silver can be listed in three categories. eBay will tell you that, while many customers use the search engine, just as many will browse through the categories. There are several services you can subscribe to that will tell you where your customers are coming from.

Thanks. I really appreciate the info. Congrats on being a Gold Power Seller. I'm a silver one right now and will surly try your suggestions. Don't worry, looks like we sell different items. I sell mainly sports and entertainment art and collectables. Good luck in the future.
