I had a potential bidder email for a shipping quote to Canada on an item listed on the 14th of May. I told them that there's an international shipping calculator in the listing. They replied back letting me know that all they get is N/A. So I tried myself and I get the same thing. In fact, it doesn't work on any of the auctions I posted after May 12th. I can only assume it has to do with the recent postal rate change (May 12th) as the auctions I have posted before that date all have working international shipping calculators. I didn't change anything in my account or anything else associated with my normal listing procedure. Can you check to see what is going on with this? You can use the pending auction titled "hh" to see if you get the same result.

Add me to that list. All my ebay store items and Vendio store items which have a calculated Priority Mail International and Express Mail International are providing wrong prices for shipping.

Want some items to check? Go to my Vendio store and check the Easter Seal Category, or the Boys Town Category, or the Album Pages, or the ... these are 1 oz items.

As for the ebay items, I just do not have time to waste ... go to the similar categories in my ebay store.

Please advise as quickly as possible. As I am still revising items.

Bill...

I am just about over these "problems" and new policies. I started this past week on ECRATER. Once your site is set up, it is very easy to add items to it. NO FEES...NO FEES....NO FEES. I still have paypal on it, but also have GOOGLE checkout. I will continue to list on eBay and Amazon, but will HOLD MYSELF to listing on MY ECRATER site EVERYDAY. Hopefully at one point down the road...the FEE BASED sites and listing program sites...will DISAPPEAR, and I will not have to deal with their problems.

Ecrater is sitting on 11,242 STAMPs in their category....you could probably double that with your inventory. The site is growing..not slowly either...the total listings are EXPANDING FAST!

rhpepsi, thank you for bringing eCrater to my attention. The problem there is that they have no inventory feature, and when I do decide to move, it will be to a site where my brand, not the site's brand is promoted.

When these guys get back from the beach today, perhaps they will have an engineer take a look at our problem. And, maybe they will notify us when there will be a fix.

Hello,

We are aware of the problem with calculated First Class Mail International and it has been escalated to our engineers as a high priority. I do not have an eta available currently.

Bill, I checked one of your eBay Store listings that offers Priority Mail International and Express Mail International, and the Vendio calculator and USPS website agree on the cost. I used listing "220232122235". I entered the information that is in this listing (weight of 1 oz.) into the USPS website and selected "Switzerland" as a country. The USPS website gives the following costs:

Express MailŪ International: $25.95
Priority MailŪ International: $24.00

The Vendio calculator gives the following costs:

USPS Express Mail Intl: $26.95
USPS Priority Mail Intl: $25.00

Add your $1.00 shipping markup to the USPS rates, and it equals the same amount that is being showing in the Vendio shipping calculator.

The same is true for the Vendio shipping calculator for your Vendio Store item with the same title as this eBay Store listing.

Regards,
Nathan

The envelope that I chose to ship in was the USPS Flat Rate Priority Mail or the USPS Flat Rate Express Mail. Those are not the prices for shipment by Flat Rate envelopes.

The values were correct before the price changes, and they have not increased that much.

The calculator is broken.....

Hello Bill,

If you are using a flat rate envelope to mail the item, then the best practice is to select a fixed shipping cost, rather than a calculated cost (as the cost will not change). However, I do understand how this is causing problems, and I have asked our engineers to take a look.

Nathan

There are different Flat Rate Priority Mail shipping costs to Canada, Mexico, and the rest of the world. That is why I chose to have the calculator display the rates.

Is it OK to continue listing items? Will the fix cover all items previously posted? Or, should I wait until the shipping calculator is fixed before listing further?

Bill...you may want to wait. I just listed a couple dozen auctions....ALL of them have the same problem:

USPS First-Class Mail Intl N/A The requested service is unavailable between the selected locations.
USPS Priority Mail Intl $21.00

Hello,

Bill, I do not know whether or not the fix will fix the problem for items previously posted, as our engineers are currently evaluating the problem. You might want to use fixed shipping costs in the meantime (with a separate fixed shipping for Canada and Mexico), but that is up to you. We will provide more information as soon as it is available.

Rhpepsi, it would be extremely helpful if you could provide the information that I requested in my email reply to you this morning -- a listing number where your calculated USPS Priority Mail International is incorrect. Also provide what location you are entering into the shipping calculator. As I stated in my email reply to you, I checked a few of your listings and the calculated USPS Priority Mail International option appears to be working correctly.

Regards,
Nathan

Nathan...as stated on other board...it is ONLY the 1st class that I am concerned with..but that is 99.9% of my international orders.

I have had at least three auctions with the international calculator saying first class international is N/A also, meaning I have to calculate it from the USPS web site and send out an ebay invoice seperatly. Vendio is not working and this problem started last week for me.

The Four Engineers
One day, a Mechanical Engineer, Electrical Engineer, Chemical Engineer and Computer Engineer were driving down the street in the same car.

The car broke down.

The Mechanical(Vendio) Engineer said, "I think a rod broke."

The Chemical(eBay) Engineer said, "The way it sputtered at the end, I don't think it's getting gas."

The Electrical(PayPal) Engineer said, "I think there was a spark and something is wrong with the electrical system."

All three turned to the computer engineer and said, "What do you think?"

The Computer Engineer said, "I think we should all get out and get back in."

Hello,

We double checked with the engineers on this project and we are pushing to get this fix out tomorrow. (likely very early in the AM PST.)

We'll post back when we know it has gone live and is working correctly. Thank you for your patience while we work to correct the calculator.

When I entered a zip code from one of my auctions and clicked on the calculator it told me N/A. However when I tried it again, just a bit later, it gave me an answer, so perhaps I had left a space in the zipcode or something. Seems to be working now. thanks for your attention!! Susan

International Shipping Calculator for Flat Rate Pririty Mail still broken. There are two functions for Priority Mail International - FLAT RATE and Calculated weight. They differ by shipping zone.

A FLAT Rate Priority to Canada is $9.95, while the Calculated rate is $17.00.

A FLAT Rate Priority to Australia is $11.95 while the Calculated rate is $22.50.

A FLAT Rate Priority to Switzerland is $11.95 while the Calculated rate is $24.00.

The function for a FLAT Rate Envelope is broken.

Check Vendio Store Item "Guyana, Disney Mickey's Animal Workers, 2917a-i, MNH" and ebay Store Item #220237264659.

PLease advise if this will be fixed.

Hello Bill,

The engineers are now focusing on the flat rate part of this issue, and this will be corrected as well. When we know it has, we will post back to this thread.

The international shipping calculator does work now for the items I had problems with before I posted to the board.

Bill K...those prices you quoted for Priority flat rate and calculated weight are correct for one pound if you are referring to the flat rate envelope. If you can't fit your item in the flat rate envelope...it has to be calculated.

I should have been more clear. The prices that I use are for a one (1) ounce weight. Since I sell stamps/charity seals, etc., most of my items weigh one (1) to five (5) ounces.

Bill K...so you use Priority Flat Rate envelopes to ship your stamps and such? Those prices would be correct up to a pound even if you ship a 5 oz set of stamps or even a mere 1 oz item in a Priority Flat Rate envelope. It would be alot cheaper to ship them First Class International.

Further, one (1) pound by Priority Flat Rate International Envelope is $11.95, while the Calculated Priority Mail International Envelope is $24.00.

The price that was and is being displayed in eBay item #350059880441 - CARDWELL WESTINGHOUSE FRICTION DRAFT GEAR POCKET KNIFE is $25.00 by Priority Mail International to the UK. I am not sure of the item's weight, but supposing that the weight is two (2) pounds the Flat Rate shipping should be ... $11.95 to the UK.

Oh, and the price to ship that item by Calcualted Priority Mail should be $27.00.

So, something is broken at Vendio.

idnyc - I offer a flat 1st Class International shipping option of $5.00, no matter the weight or number of items. If you do not mind waiting 4 to 6 weeks to receive your order this shipping option is available.

However, if you would rather receive your items in 6 to 10 days, so that you can enjoy your purchase sooner, Priority Mail or Express Mail is also available for an additional cost. There is no additional item cost.

OK...I see what you are saying but I forgot that Vendio doesn't offer a flat rate option in their shipping selections...only calculated and fixed. Since the flat rate (envelope or box) varies by country you can't put in a fixed rate (because you would lose money if you entered the $9.95 envelope price and someone from a country other than Canada or Mexico won your auction) and the calculated rate only figures regular Priority or Express rates. Personally, I only offer First Class International and Priority International both calculated. If for some reason the buyer wants to pay more and chooses Priority (on a lightweight item), if I can save them money by using the flat rate envelope or box, I ship that way and refund them the difference. Most of the time (99%), the buyer chooses the cheaper method if it is a significant difference. On items weighing over 4 pounds, I only offer Priority. I gave up even adding Express after a year as nobody ever chose it.
Incidently, I sold a Gameboy game (about 2 oz) to someone in the Netherlands via First Class International and they received it in 10 days from the day they paid with PayPal. Also, I check my feedback on a daily basis and I notice my international buyers (who are using First Class) leaving feedback when I least expect it (meaning they are getting their packages alot sooner than 4 to 6 weeks). That time period was back when the post office used to offer surface shipping.
