"I don't consider the Salem Witch Trials and their respective comunities as having anything to with me or my America in any case."
Well, that's a comforting thought. That was then, this is now. That was them, this is us, that's Iran, this is America.
"Moral relativism is a very bad thing because it makes really bad things 'not so bad' because it's 'their custom'."
Moral relativism can be a valuable tool when we use it to as an aid to examining ourselves, when we can see we have customs of our own that figure into our equations. If we don't take a dose of it once in a while, it's too easy to fall into a "it can't happen here" complacency, and that's dangerous.

And remember, James, before you label moral relativism as "a very bad thing," that it's moral absolutism that justifies the serial killer and his helpers in your story.

Speaking of "moral killings", the Taliban in Afganistan is holding American, German, Autrailians, and local Afgaini Christians hostage for proselytizing -- a likely Death Sentance over there.
Funny, in history, the Christian Church was well-known for creating theocracies in Europe during the Middle-Ages and they were just as intollerant [HERESY]. Yes, Religion and Government make for poor bedfellows.

I say: let's all buy a tiny, cheap, but private island, and live our lives the way we want... "Let each man be an island"....
None of us will ever be right.: I may expect too much from my neighbour, who is turn is expecting too much from me, ad nauseum...I am moving to my own Greek Island... Yasou!
