Jeff Dunham: Jose Jalapeno is one of Dunham's three main characters, and he's very simply a Jalapeno... On A Stick

victoria -- That's him! Thanks a million!

pharlap -- I checked out your link -- thanks for posting it! Even though it's a different guy, it sounds like his ventriloquism act would be hilarious too!

Sometime in the mid-70's Milton Berle was opening a new condo development in south Florida. Mom wanted to go so I took her.

I had watched Show of Shows and The Texaco Hour as a kid and thought it would be nice to meet Berle.

When I finally was able to say anything to him, he dissed me with a "yeah, yeah, that's nice," while all the time looking over my head for someone else to talk to. He's the most rude and arrogant person.

OTOH, I've met Red Buttons and he's one of the sweetest down to earth comedians of this era.

Bill Cosby is probably my all time favorite. We saw him years ago, in Las Vegas, do a routine about women giving birth. He was trying to help men understand the full extent of childbirth. The four of us laughed so hard we ached. I'll never forget that one.

Then George Carlin was always one of my favorites too. Minus the swearing.

Love Bill Cosby! LindaK: was that the monologue where he says that at one point durinf the delivery his wife stood up in the stirrups & told everyone in the delivery room that his (Cosby's) parents weren't married?

Cosby came to his first popularity when I was in junior high school. I bought & still have his albums. All of my friends could quote his routines by heart. Two of my favorites were "Karate" and "Little Tiny Hairs."

LOL!!! YES, bunnicula, that's the one. Also the parts where he said something along the line of "Just take your upper lip and pull it all the way over the back of your head..." and "Stick an umbrella up your a** and open it."

Then he went into a routine about how a parent feels when a child is born. They're the most wonderful thing in the world...... and then proceeds to describe how a parent feels when things aren't going so well. Went through the different stages that children go through while growing up. God, he's good.

LindaK: his comments on new parents are spot on! At first they're delighted by everything--even the kid's BMs...running around showing them to everyone: Did you poo-poo? He poo-pooed! Look at his poo-poo! Before long, though, it changes to Did you do that? Look at the mess you made!

Thanks so much for describing these so well. I've enjoyed the laughs, just remembering.

I guess that's why I've always loved his humor....it's, as you say, spot on. Something that people laugh about because they know that's exactly how they've felt, or what they've experienced or observed. It's about true life occurences.

George Carlin
Bob Newhart
Andy Kauffman
Freddie Prinz
Steve Martin
Phil Hartman
Chevy Chase
Robin Williams

Don't like:
Milton Berle
Carrot Top
Penn & Teller

I had the same experience with Milton Berle, different situation.
I managed a candy store at Philadelphia Intn. airport, collected many autographs of famous people, all nice, except Berle. He did the same thing to me he did to you when I asked for his autograph. Never once looked at me, looked over my head while handing me his autograph & said "Here doll"

He smelled to high heaven of cigars too, very unpleasant experience.
I think the old bugger just celebrated his 99th birthday.

mcjane, kind of makes you feel like poo poo doesn't it? Here is this supposed "idol" of our childhoods .. a funny man .. popular .. turns out to be the nastiest person alive.

99th birthday? What is it they say? Only the good die young?

Bill Cosby is my all time favorite! I still laugh at his shows and routines. He has a new show out now that he plays with Patricia Rashad. He portrays a retired whatever who owns a coffee shop. Some woman wrote a play about him but neglected to tell him it was about him. He read the play and loved it. Thought the character was nuts, but failed to recognize himself! No one had the heart to tell him it was he until the end and he finally realized it on his own. He felt bad, but it was a funny, funny show.

I wouldn't call Kathleen Freeman the funniest comedian, but she was damn good, she could steal scenes from the best of them. I only mention her because she died yesterday. She gave me many laughs.
