Ah! Thank you for the corect dates, mrpotatoehead! I rememebr reading a book arguing for the return to the Gold Standard back when I was 17 years old. It's been a while since then, but I've always remembered how the system went corrupt and became *immune* to oversight. It was a lesson in politics that I learned very well at an early age.

There is no SS trust fund, as such. There never was. All SS payments go into the treasury general account.
