Me too! I couldn't believe they blew it up one year after putting a new roof on it? Does that make sense?
And these new fields, one right next to each other, whats going to happen to parking, not to mention the traffic. I seriously don't see why they couldn't have built them someplace out of the actual city.

RAINIER BEER BREWERY is gone!!!!! replaced by yet another coffee place? That big R was a landmark!
I could think of more things, but its depressing!

Yes I think it was Microsoft that did it.

Palm trees! Yes I've seen them, I mean come on! they make nice indoor houseplants!

Gig Harbor, Fox Island is nice, but they too are getting crowded. We used to live in Maple Valley in the 80's...went there to see a freind that bought a house in Cherokee Bay area, my God, the subdivision thing went nuts up there, they clear cut everything away! She lives in a nice, new house, but the houses are so close to each other, you could reach out the window and touch the next one!

I dunno if there is anything left, well there's Eastern Wa.........

Ick! Eastern Washington, too hot and dry for me.

We have hope Nearthesea, they said on the news that due to all the dotcoms going TU the housing market is going to plummet. Maybe they'll all go away and we can have the place to ourselves again!!!

If you do not see that any of this is a problem, I invite you to come live in my small town of less than 12,000. There is a roughly 60% Hispanice population, at least half of them are illegal. I do not know Spanish and have absolutely no wish to learn. 90% of the time you cannot go to town without some kind of problem. We had to quit going to all the fast food joints in town, the Mexicans got our order wrong everytime and they can't count change back.

I had to take my children out of school because the Spanish children have precedence over all the others. All of the teachers time is spent helping the Spanish kids learn English and basic skills. We pay massive taxes in our town for a new school, but most of the parents feel that their children are getting a substandard education because of the huge influx of Hispanics.

The biggest scam in town is for them to come over pregnant. have their babies and instant citizenship for them and their whole families. Instant welfare too. The sad part is, I used to be very tolerant, but I find that I am prejudiced against a lot of them now. Flame me if you want, but I am honest enough to admit it.

hcross, I won't flame you.

Toke, it has been sunny here for several months now with the exception of a very few days of rain. Strange, no? No matter, at least it has not been HOT like it is in Eastern Wa. I don't think we even hit 90 degrees once this year.

I prefer the rain and cool weather, can you tell?

hcross, you sound like youre from the same town my sister had to move from. Once, the neighborhood where I grew up was in the "nice" area. Once, the downtown had many unique shops. Once, it was easy to get a job at the five and dime. Now, the house where I grew up is in the "bad" part of town, according to the gang control cops who have that beat. Now, the downtown is full of stores that have mexican words all over the windows as to the goods inside and all the clerks dont speak English; Now, there are abandoned cars/dishwashers/couches and graffiti all over the homes in the neighborhood and one cant get a job unless one knows Spanish. So no, I wont flame you either. You spoke what you are experiencing, and truth hurts sometimes.

NTS & rawbunzel...

I admit...I'm depressed by grey days (if there are too many in a row. I have that SAD thing, for sure. I loved Seattle in every other way though... My husband, OTOH, has always favored Seattle over Spokane...I think he's an amphibian.
