Oh all this stuff is so terrible. Jet setting around the earth was exhausting enough without all this airline security. I would love to join the army and help fight that nasty old terrorist. Do you think the army would let me wear a pink uniform? I think this whole affair is about the repression of DIVA's. Its time for those girls to get away from those terrorist. The United States needs to send in panty hose, high heels, lipstick, make up and pushup bras for our middle eastern sisters. I bet if those men saw 2 million gorgeous middle eastern girls dressed in mini skirts and halter tops coming over the Pakistan Border singing "like a Virgin" they would drop their guns. Also, the United States needs to get that Osama and all his men and fly them back over here and make them clean up the WTC at gunpoint.

I am sure (reasonably sure anyway) this thread was meant as a light "fluff" thread. Unfortunately it shows an attitude that so much of the rest of the world finds so offensive about "us" Americans (they are as guilty of lumping into one group as we are--it's human nature and not unique to any one group). We appear to have no respect for their culture or beliefs and we are perceived quite often as vulgar and arrogant.

Because of our freedoms we speak when we want, what we want, and really don't worry about whom it might offend. If someone doesn't like what we say or how we say it, then that's their problem. Afterall, we are Americans and we do what we want!

I am proud to be an American, but I wish we Americans could learn to think before we speak. We are not the only people on this earth......

Hey artdoggy,

I LIKE IT! I LIKE IT!

Now thats creative thinking.

As Eric Brocovitch(sp) says to ED when he asks how she was able to get the documents from the Water Department...
She says "BOOBS, ED"!
I loved it

Boobs rule! why do you think all those terrorist spent so much time at strip clubs? Didn't you all hear about all that? One of them was complaining that a picture of a woman in a motel room was repulsive but the hotel manager said the same man would stare out the window and ogle the girls in bikinis. This war is definitely about sex.

Okay, I know it may sound weird but you know this war is about sexual repression. These men are sexually obsessed to the point of no return.

"Spoken like a truly polically correct person! But you know when American women live in Saudi they are FORCED to wear the drape."

And if as Americans they choose not to, then they should not go. I may not agree with what's going on in that country, but I sure wouldn't "slap them in the face" just because "I'm an American". An American has guaranteed rights in this country. Some Americans arrogantly translate that to mean wherever we go and to hell with anyone else!

I saw someone ask: "Why do they hate Americans so much?"

The comments in this thread are an example.

I think people should have the choice to do what they want whether they are Americans or not. I don't see Saudi as a country where much choice is allowed for anyone. But any way, I know how to do the dance of the 7 veils.

I certainly hope US intelligence will use "sniffing devices" to locate these terrorist in the mountains. I don't know if anyone has ever noticed but there is a definite link between heavy men's cologne and terrorist. I am sure the smell of BRUT is wafting over the mountains even as we speak.

hepburn-Unfortunately that won't happen.

It does seem to serve as an example of why the world will always be at conflict and how some will always remain clueless.

We could very well be in a world war before all this is over, most of us will not even remotely consider the possibility that we have ever been even remotely responsible for the rest of the world's opinion of us.

What was done to us was wrong. There is no making it right. This is wrong also and there is no making it right either.

I am not easily offended, but this has irked me. If the poster was intending to provoke a strong reaction, they suceeded. I guess that's what bothers me the most. I let myself get "had" and by something as shallow as this thread!

SO anyway, when I was visiting Istanbul about 4 years ago, I learned the dance of the 7 veils. I attracted the attention of a Saudi Sheik and he took be back to his casba. Oh I danced for three days with grapes dangling from my mouth and bells jingling. They have the cutest toe rings. Of course I had to wear the full veil when I went out on the street, but I got the biggest kick out of because I didn't have a stitch on underneath. I kind of liked it.

In the Kingdom (Saudi Arabia) the women visiting HAVE to dress like the local women but the visiting men are NOT allowed to dress as the locals. Does that tell you a lot of it is about identity both sexual and religious?

Men in shorts or short sleeves are regarded as every bit as obscene as an unveiled woman.

These people are as strange sexually as any group on earth.

An Isreali spy tried to blackmail a Saudi prince. He supplied the fellow with a slight 13 year old girl and took color pictures of him engaging in some rough acts I am sure I can't describe here. Then the next day in the hotel the spy sat down at the fellows breakfast table and laid a spread of color pics on the table and waited for the shame and horror to hit the fellow. Instead he said "Oh I didn't know you did this. Marvelous work - marvelous. I'll want some wallet size prints to give to my friends back home also. What do I owe you for that and these also?"

The poor Isreali spy just said "They are a service of the hotel - no further charge." and walked away stunned.

It is simply impossible to blackmail someone like this that is not even mildly embarrassed.

That goes to show ya...no one knows what goes on behind closed doors or even under all those veils and scarves.

I'm sure they have just as much perverted minds as we americans do.

Only difference is WE DON'T HIDE our perversion!

What about all those American Women who were imported into the Saudi Harem - It was on 20/20 Here are the princes of Saudi getting it on with all these fine Amercian Babes. I wonder what Allah thinks of that - sounds just like the old double standard to me..with a middle eastern twist. These men are PARTY HOUNDS!

So as American women we burned our bras - now it is time for middle eastern women to burn their veils and let these men know that they are not going to get away with stinking up the world with cheap cologne and bombing innocent people. Their psuedo religious Macho ranting has become tiresome. These men must learn the western ways of being content to control their world with a remote from their lazy boy. And for God's sake, someone teach them how to play football.

artdoggy:
The harem you speak of was in Brunei, not Saudi Arabia.

You won't find much opposition among many Muslim women. Let's not forget that in the vast majority of cases it's women who oppress themselves. Consider FMG which is almost universally carried out by women against their own daughters. When the Shah of Iran tried to outlaw viels the women were the ones who protested.

The Saudi shieks you are talking about put up a front for their people. They are really a bunch of booze swilling, gambling, womenizers well known in the world's casinos.

Oh BTW artdoggy, they let American military females in the country in uniform by declaring them honorary men.

Hey krs - nice hat. Whats the headband? lather (sp.)

Sulyn 1950.
I saw the picture The Ugly American many tears ago. In that we saw what an undiscribly indiscreet group of people we Americans really are. I have also watched the news and read many books since then and have discovered what a large majority of the world is (from my point of view) a super violent, prejudice, and ignorant place. The Middle East is still in the 9th centry (if that far up intime) in how the region is operated, women are dirt, control of the body is strictly by the gun, and anything to do with an attempt to improve the absoult poverty, destitution, ignorance, in which they live is rejected by the ruling class.(their religious leaders and power brokers) I see that they take our money, food, and anything else that is Given, but at the same time call us unspeakable names (for having what we have, what we belive, and for not Giving them MORE) and try and destroy everything we have. We as a group of people are small in population compared to many countrys, so maybe we should ' just go along with their way of living, culture, and absolute dictatorship, and kiss their a!#*s and shiver in fear that we have insulted them.' I think that maybe we should beg them to force us to live full of hate and in abject poverty and Stuipness and forget what a choice of living styles we are allowed ,,and concure to their way of culture and politness, so that WE DO NOT INSULT THE GREAT ONES.

here here, get off my American A**- I can say what I want--- thats what makes me an American. I'm not going to tip toe around worried that I might hurt somebody's tiny weeny feelings. Thousands of people, MY PEOPLE are DEAD, I don't care if someones feelings get hurt. Put a band aid on it. Let see, they bury women alive over there. Not to mention the dreaded custom of female castration. We are dealing with barbarians.

Yes, you are most definitely an American.

You are correct, you can say what every you want.

I hoped to make a point, I was most probably wrong for trying. We each have our opinion. They are no doubt as varied as we are.

If you can make lite of any of this on the eve of what could most likely be the most catostrophic crisis our great nation and perhaps the world has every faced.....carry on.

It seems I have said more than I should have, I'll say no more.

Me trying to lift spirits is not making lite of the situation. But at least I am not scared. I am brave enough to say what I need to say. I am AMERICAN. I am from the greatest nation on the face of this earth. The only nation that will feed its enemys. The only nation in the history of the world that rebuilds its conquered lands and economy. A nation that stands for what is good and right and a nation that will not topple. A nation that will fight to the death. GIVE ME LIBERTY OR GIVE ME DEATH!

I believe the women of those countries know no different. They haven't a clue about the freedom we live in. They only know what their men and DICTATORS tell them.

God forbid we should go over there and LIBERATE them!

I wish we could.
