Just now saw on Chanel 32. DW World News that the Nevada sample tested positive for Anthrax.

Keeping my fingers crossed for the Pleasanton ones, where my daughter lives (Dublin is just a freeway overpass from Pleasanton)....

I believe it is just a matter of time until those contaminated envelopes start reaching family homes, rather than just commercial sites...

Edited spelling, which is getting worse and worse!

I live in Reno.

The Governor announced at noon that the third test was positive.

All 200 Microsoft employees were asked to be at their office at 2:00pm (2 hours notice!) for testing.

From what I heard last night the letter is a piece of returned mail. They had sent a payment to a vendor in Malaysia & it was returned. It sat on someones desk for several days (maybe 2 weeks) unopened. It looked like it had been opened and was wet and then dried. Someone had inserted pornography in it and the check was still in there.

Very scary stuff!

your facts are wrong the sample in Nevada tested negitive.

The sample from NYC NBC has had two test one negitive one postive and will need to under go more testing.

false positive test are not unusual so its not fact untill two or three different test show up positive...

Radio station here in Up state NY almost in my back yard WGY recieved two letters today by two different hosts building evacuated twice in one day.

Letters are being tested but no injuries from this to report.

Soon you wont have to worry about post anthrax threats or hoaxes as they will more then likely Stop all mail going USPS till they find the people responcible or ever person is sending with a registered return address like metered mail.

Don't have to wish I was correct I stated the what I know clearly these positive results can be wrong more times then not that is why it is being sent to CDC for more testing..

What happens is they will now treat it as bring exposed because the finail test results could take 7 to 14 days if it is anthrax that would be to late for any who could have been in contact.

Dman, from what I understand from the news conference on MSNBC at 1:00, they are sending the samples to the CDC to determine if the spores are the naturally occuring kind or if they were developed in a laboratory. They have tested conclusively for anthrax, the question is, what type.

I guess this is what GW meant when he said we need to be diligent. In real life, I am an office assistant and my job is opening mail. How bizarre.

They also test this to see if they can get spores from the sample then they test them to see if they are live and will muliply if they find the bactria virus in the spore is dead it will be of no effect to any liveing thing.

They are sending this stuff in the mail its life is thought to be from 5 to 8 days before it weakens and dies with out a host to feed on and multiply.

Oh great. Priority Mail takes 2-3 days. Unless it is an ebay package I'm anxiously awaiting.

According to breaking TV news, a plane just landed in San Jose. A man of Middle Eastern descent was said to have thrown some white powder around the plane's cabin. It looks like police on the scene are carrying gas masks.

twin...Thanx...I was just goinmg to post this same info.

All passengers and crew are still in the plane, where they are undergoing de-contamination. I heard nothing mentioned about the man who scattered the powder. I wonder if he too, is still on board. I sure would not spend MY tax dollar to use the de-contaminant on that SOB! Whether he is a terrorist or some psychotic nut doing copy-cat scares, he does not deserve to be decontaminated. Sorry! I know this will offend some, but I am getting really pizzed off...

Hi, Shosh. The plane has been on the ground for two hours or so. Not much is clear yet. The report is the guy put some white powder in the ventilation system. The air conditioning system on the plane was turned off to prevent possible contamination (of outside air) and they're not letting anyone off the plane. I'm sure the folks are board are getting pretty anxious. I would be just about ready to freak out.

BTW, this is a United flight with 80 passengers on board.

19 terrorists killed 7000 people. Where are the rest of the terrorists that havent been found yet? Like I said in another thread...this is just the tip of the iceberg.

The whole point about the spores is that they can, survive long periods of extremes of dryness and tempurature extremes. It is a natural mechanism this bacteria uses to survive. They don't die off in a couple days at all. The cellular form will die off yes. The little spores are hardy.

Yeah...the spores lie dormant until a source of nutrients turns up. They have hard little casings.

The FBI has now announced that the San Jose plane was a false alarm. The FBI states that a passenger opened a greeting card and some confetti fell into the plane's aisle.

Sheesh...

Tabbs,

I remember from another thread that you are from Annapolis. I think that we should get away from all of this...Get on a boat and sail away!!!
