Please don't anyone take this the wrong way, I'm only trying to help. Message boards aren't the place to get your news, maybe direct you to a news story, but please don't use it as your source.

i think the terror comes from the fear of something you cant see...like the boogieman rather than a target. that is what they want. they want us to fear the most normal everyday thing like mail or shopping. we NEED to be smart NOT scared and we need to be pissed off i might add.
everytime something happens we need to get more pissed not frightened.
and any azz who sends any fake anthrax through the mail just screwing around scareing people should be treated as a terrorist and punished the same way.

Packer, that's what I thought, too. When I think of confetti, I think of brightly-colored dots of paper nearly as large as a pea. Not powder at all. Have no idea why the FBI agent used that word -- I would think "glitter" might better resemble "powder", but I wasn't there (obviously) and have no idea what he (or any of the people on the plane) saw.

Uaru, I totally agree, and when news that *ought* to be nationally televised is NOT, I think one of the greatest boons of the Internet is that information we're being given locally CAN be made available around the world.

I was telling my family at the dinner table tonight "We don't need the terrorist to destroy us, as we are doing a pretty good job of it our selves".
With all the paralizing fear and the "NUTS" hoaxing us.
We are doomed....
The terrorists know our weaknesses and all they did was start the ball rolling..we'll do the rest!

They are just now letting the passengers off that UAL flight, and loading them onto buses.

Sorry, Breinhold, I was attempting to accomodate jt's question, not scare you...

uaru I understand what you are saying...However, since I live only 30 minutes from where this occured, and since I DID have the TV on, and since is is LOCAL news for me, I will suggest that my source was...well, accurate. If I had HEARD that over the phone, I certainly would not have posted it on this board.

plsmith, nothing personal..i am just burning out on all the fear surrounding me. i cant believe the amount of rumors and speculation. to much gloom and doom. you were just helping out a fellow poster with a link but jeesh...what nutty stuff. no fault of yours. and no you didnt scare me..i am only scared about how the country is flipping out. how on earth did great britain endure the blitzgreg of the second world war.
how did rural america without computers and cnn endure the civil war...a war on are own soil. and yet we are here.
during the first world war for a brief time the american symbol in much patriotic artwork was an american pit bull......we need that symbol back. we need to get that attitude back.

I don't think the FBI is being honest. Their explanation sounds too fishy.

The anthrax thing doesn't scare me. It can be treated with antibiotics.

The whole thing doesn't have me scared, just angry. I'm so angry I feel like I can take them all on myself.

tigeress I really hope you are wrong! I hope confetti is ALL this was...I also hope the rest of the passengers are not going to lynch the person who reported this to who-ever

Enough emotions for the day...Off to read for a while.

I'm just angry too. Not scared. I was at first but no more.

One thing I know is that we come from a society that loves to scare itself. That's why we have so many spooky movies and Stephen King book lovers. We'll all get over this fear, it takes awhile longer for some than others is all. We can be strong and we need to be.

I dont know about the rest of you, but this scare thing with Shosh proved one point. This board might not be good for some news, but it DAM sure is good for those who are afraid and know they arent alone..that others are here for them. That speaks volumes and makes this place even more of a cool place to hang out.

Enjoy your crepes, Shosh

I did, Hepburn Still licking chops...

My Vicodin is working...head fuzzy, knees wobbly...See you later.

I also see nothing wrong with posting about something happening in another part of this country, which no one but those getting local news will know about, for a while.

plsmith, that's a different story. Maybe it's a rumor but it did appear in print in an newspaper (of the news variety..not the Sun variety).

Maybe nothing to it.

Middle Easterners didn't go to work at the WTC on Sept 11th, and neither did 4,000 Jews.

It's surprising that there were any victims at all, what with all those people staying away in droves.
