I'm sorry, but I'm so tired of talking about the WTC, Osama bin Laden, and Anthrax. Can we talk about something else, please?

I'll start. Has anyone see any of the new movies that have just come out? How about a review?

Has anyone heard that great new Alicia Keys song called "Fallin"?

How about some beautiful Autumn pictures? Zilvy, it must be beautiful up where you are!

Ok... now your turn!

Still looks like summer here.

Weather is just about PERFECT.

Last week we had tornados. There have been record tornados for the first two weeks of October. Hope that doesn't set a trend for the rest of the year.

I tried to put one of those pools up once and it was two days of horror. I finally got it up ,filled it ,and it collapsed. for two years I had nothing but a ufo landing circle in the yard. funny now, but that day I was spinning like top with steam coming out of my ears.

We do have chickens, horses, goats.
I am in Mississippi Muriel.

It's for sale. Here is the front:

It is 3,200 square feet plus usable 800 sq. ft. attic. Up to 7 bedrooms with 48 windows, workshop, and barn on 11 acres. That view is out one of the bedrooms. It needs cosmetic work still but we have done a LOT of MAJOR stuff- foundation, wiring, plumbing, new kitchen, roof, septic, barn, several bedrooms redone, etc.

Want to buy it? You could do a bed and breakfast. I love it, REALLY, I do...but we are going to do something else maybe if it sells. Like build a log cabin in the mountains. I am torn...

This is my kitchen where I sit when I am here at AW: http://www2.netdoor.com/~vannoys/terri9/kitchen2.jpg [ edited by jt on Oct 20, 2001 08:58 AM ]

jt: I have restored two homes (by myself). I was told everyone has one in them..they were right. the second has taught me that. If I was 20 years younger I would be interested but I now get a facial tic when I see joint compound. the first one is an adventure and very rewarding. anyone who has not experienced it should....but only once.
I helped a friend re chink an 1860 log home....that was interesting. cold air was just starting to blow through the final logs when we finished..he now owes me his first born. lol

The Swamp Maples were green one minute, flaming crimson the next and now they're denuded....boy talk about blink~poof!!

Thanks Terri and Zilvy... The only downside is the way the wind picks up over the water in snowstorms and noreasters...we get the full brunt.

Here's the world's smallest island (and the amazing purple sky?!?)...

jt, your attic is just a little smaller than my whole house.

I'm thinking about a larger one maybe next year, but I have this funny feeling that houses for me are like purses - I'm going to fill them with clutter no matter how large they are!

Pat, as to good books, I'm afraid I sell the best of mine, but I found a pb of the Roswell incident that got put in the bathroom, um, library, where it will surely get read.

The colors here in MI are nearing peak.
Yesterday I was at the university and the rain had plastered the leaves to the sidewalk and then when the groundcrew cleaned them up it was stained in leaf patterns. Even that was pretty. Sometimes the prettiest things are not a grand view but just one little bush tucked in a corner. The squirrels must be in one last flurry of activity - they are everywhere and the power line outside my window is like a squirrel freeway....
Try to post some later.

i do jt. the person who buys your home is buying much more than they know. what you have done is the hardest thing to do and is always done right when the owner does it. i wish you well with the log home i almost did it once but my daughter was born and i knew i couldnt juggle one more thing. i settled for a pa farm house 1850, worked my butt off to fix it and work my butt off to keep it. looking back the log home would not have been any harder to do. i can say these homes will stand long after the new ones fall. and the feeling in them can not be reproduced , they have soul. i gotta go to. what a nice break this has been.

It's Fiction Pat.

Here's one review:

Riptide was a splash of a thriller.
I read Riptide in a week's time and ripped right through the pages. It's about a pirate who has buried his spanish gold in a specially constructed dungeon deeo within Ragged Island, just off the coast of maine. Over 300 years, many have tried to recover the hidden treasure but have failed due to the water pit and all the traps. Also, there's a sword buried down there, one that's said to have been cursed. Hatch is the main character and he has given his permission to a recovery team to go to the island and dig for the treasure and sword. But most of all, Hatch wants to find out what had happened to his 12 year old brother, Johnny - who was lost 25 years before while exploring a mysterious cave. As the plot progresses, strange things start to occur for the recovery team, many becoming very ill, and some meeting their end. Apparently, as they dig deeper and deeper, they slowly unleash the evil that has been buried for so long. The last hundred pages are explosive! I can't wait to start another book by these two authors.
