Rancher24 - Stunning!

Breinhold - I once dated a guy named Roy. He kind of looked like a chicken, too.

Muriel...

You might try Boomspeed.com for a free pic host. At least, it's free for small users...

Hey...it does doesn't it? Actually, it's a white plastic barrette, to keep the hair out of her eyes. I'm not too fond of ribbons and such. I cut her hair for a while, but she looks lousy in bangs...

Your dog is a sweetie toke! Is it true that dogs look like their owners, or visa-versa? I bet you're thin with long hair toke.....am I close?

I'm in S.W. Ontario and the colors are beautiful, but the leaves are really starting to come off. I'll see if I can find a good picture....

Toke,

I keep a puppy cut on (Westminster) Abbey.

Aren't they the cutest dogs when small?

We had a heck of a time getting her one ear trained. For the longest time, one was perky while the other one drooped. It was so funny.

Thanks, Kraft...she's a love. Yes, I do have very long hair. And, now that I'm on drugs, I'll soon be back to thin...

We didn't have very good color this year, sorry to say. I'm on the Mass. south shore.

Hi Femme...

Both of Phoebe's ears were weak...thought we'd have to tape. I think it's because they're so HUGE...did you notice? They finally stayed up, thank goodness.

Do you have a pic of Abbey?

Absolutely, Zilvy. Just look at her chomping on my duck boot...and at such a tender age... OTOH, she didn't object at all when I stuffed her in there for a photo op. Pretty laid back for a Yorkie, huh?

Yes, indeed Toke, mostly if you tried that all they'd want would be to be someplace else FAST. She is a sweetie then and now!!I didn't realize how much their coloration changed from pup to adult!

Breinhold: Muriel is famous for her "Funky Chicken!" While I, OTH am famous for my Chicken Kiev!!!

You guys are crackin me up!! Toke, that little Phoebe is adorable! But I also keep my Molly with a puppy cut. I can't deal with all that hair. It mats too quickly.

Zilvy might post a picture of Molly for me if I'm really SUPER nice to her. Right, Zil??

No picture on my computer, Toke.

I call Abbey the "Yorkie from Hell". She weighs 13 (gasp) pounds!!!!

Her father was small and her mother was large.

I was hoping she would take after her poppa, but...

She's 9 and just as spry as the day I got her. She doesn't allow the squirrels and birds to dilly-dally in her yard.

She's here beside me, so I showed her Phoebe's picture and reminded her that that is what she was supposed to look like.

Femme...

Dunno, sometimes I think a little large makes for a healthier Yorkie. Phoebe is 7 lbs, and long in the body...certainly not the breed ideal...but sturdy. Not counting her terrible teeth, that is.

I had a tiny, perfect little Yorkie named Josephine. She was just beautiful...could have shown her. Still, she had many hidden genetic defects, and died at 4. Took years off my life, as well.

Sorry I can't see a pic of your little hellraiser, Abbey. I'll bet she's a beauty. Just tell folks she's a Silky...

Toke, she's adorable!...How often do you have to comb her & bath her?...I have a Shitzu and I really love her long hair look, but it seems I just about get done with her grooming and she needs it again.

Femme: Molly is a bird chaser too. It's hilarious to watch. She weighs 11 lbs. but if I keep giving her Milkbones, she's going to weigh 20!

Hi Rancher...

Thanks... I groom Phoebe maybe once a month. I get by with that because her coat is so silky, it rarely mats...also, Yorkies don't have undercoats like Shitzus do.

I do find that a very wide toothed metal comb works the best...does that work for you? Start at the end of the coat and work up toward the skin? Also, I comb her both before and after the bath. I don't want to set the snarls by getting them wet and letting them dry that way. Then they're set forever and I have to cut them out...

Here's a snapshot of my (gag, "I" didn't name her!) Princess

Once a month would be a real luxury, I really have to groom her every week or two, otherwise she turns into one big giant mat!...Unfortunately, since I let her go too long last time, she has very little undercoat left...Guess I'd better order her winter jacket soon!....I use a regular brush on the top and then the metal comb, then the detangler (actually a fancy dog tool which is a razor blade on a handle) and when all else fails, my trusty scissors. I always comb her totally thru, removing all knots & mats before I bath her and then again after her bath when I blow dry her.

I'm really a "big" dog person..we've got a golden retreiver & a lab, but I kinda inherited this little one & I have to say, the little dogs kinda grow on ya, although I find her attitude at times alot more cat-like than the big dogs....

Princess (!) is adorable... Just one look at the thickness of that coat strikes terror, though. I might have to actually pay someone to deal with it.

I agree, I love big dogs, too. We even had a Great Dane once who knew in her heart of hearts she was a lap dog. Just not practical for us any more. No room in the van for us, our merch, and a big dog, too.

I'll have to say, our Yorkies have been far more terrier than cat. They do seem to forget they're not fearsome and huge...
