What's up with that new banner ad for Auctionpie.com? What is that logo, anyway? It kinda looks like a snake getting ready to strike. Is anyone else getting the creeps from that new banner?

Yes, it's showing up at AW. Though it seems to have gone away for now. This is very scary!

If thats the banner, it looks like a mottled planet. Something alien.

twinsoft, they are liekly reading any cookies that are on your computer and matching it to a databse with your name on it that tells where you like to visit on the Internet. for instance, did you ever stop at Krispy Kreme's web site or some such? These marketing folks will start to show you what they think that you will likely buy considering your surfing patterns. That may be the answer.

I dont know about that. I dont use viagra, nor surf sites that advertise making certain parts of the body bigger, but I get emails all the time concerning it or things like it. And farms. I never had one, nor surfed them, but I get emails about farmgirls.

Actually the Auction pie banner is a world globe or map sectioned out across the banner and auctionpie write over it.

This banner is not new they were made over a year ago for the co-op movement they are five of them in different colors Green Gold red yellow and blue.

there is also an auction pie banner that is a globe with a wedge cut out of it in several colors as well as a series banner that has an apple with a bite out of it and the original pacman look alike logo's.

IN any case its not a snake its a world map and it comes in many colors.

these banners were made and donated to the online Auction sellers co-op but they got little use when I was webmaster and designer because they just didn't match the over all layout, and jamie seems to have reserected them for his new auction pie promotion.

I dunno, Dman3. I kinda agree with twinsoft and hepburn on its appearence.

I can see something round there. It may be a map of the worldI know those banners have been around for a while. It's just a little surprising seeing them at AW. (Um, didn't Jamie Gilcig stage a public boycott of AW just a few months ago?)

So, who's a beta tester? I'd love to hear about the revolutionary new "feedback" system (*yawn*).

Hi Rich,

I have to clarify that.

The only official banners were the one's I paid for and not donated to the co-op. They are the ones in this thread.

The others were submitted but never used on the Auctionpie site.

One even looked like a pac man. Remember big guy?

Yes, we are invading everywhere, look under your pillow tonight and you may see a Green or Red Auctionpie banner!

First AW, tomorrow the world!

(maniacal laughing...)

The above is humor or attempt at such for those who are humor impaired.

Steve, it was so thoughtful of you to start this thread to attract Jamie here to the Round Table.

Yeah I remember in fact if you read my first post you will see I mentioned nearly most of the banners in the evolution not nessarily in order.

these are the last in the series that were made.

what you see in the banner is supose to be a part of a sky view of the earth more or less and they do come in many colors keep your eyes out for the others Jamie more then likly has then all lined up to show up somewhere out there in the near future if the design dont change before thier time come.

I don't think it was so much twinsofts post that got Jamie over in this form it was only a matter of time , I have seen him in many odd corners of the internet as of late I thought he had a team but it seems he is a one man promtion team at this point.

Yes, it's rather like the high school reunion I never attended.

Or we could talk about other stuff ... Britney Spears, virgin or not?

It does feel a bit like odd back at the round table.

How is everyone?

Love the logo!

Jamie, I have something I wanna ask you and its just a question so dont be upset. We all know Pierre founded ebay and turned it over to Meg. My question to you is, have you considered turning over AuctionPie to someone else to market, advertise, "manage"? You have to know that youre not really the best one to get this new business off the ground...so my question is why do you hang in there when you yourself will be the one that will hold it back? Im not being deliberately rude... Im just curious as to why you insist on holding the reins when you are aware of opinions as to your motives, personality, actions, etc.
If I were in your shoes, and I wanted my new business to be successful and I KNEW that folks were "turned off" by me (but the concept of what I thought up was good and has a chance of attracting participants), I would continue to be "owner/founder", but I would back off and let someone else do the public relations.
So, why?

"Jamie, I have something I wanna ask you and its just a question so dont be upset. We all know Pierre founded ebay and turned it over to Meg. My question to you is, have you considered turning over AuctionPie to someone else to market, advertise, "manage"?"

Absolutely. As AP grows we will be looking for key people to take over these roles.

"You have to know that youre not really the best one to get this new business off the ground..."

That's a bit insulting.

"so my question is why do you hang in there when you yourself will be the one that will hold it back?"

That's even more insulting; and innacurate.

"Im not being deliberately rude"

Are you sure Hepburn?

"... Im just curious as to why you insist on holding the reins when you are aware of opinions as to your motives, personality, actions, etc."

AP is something that I have chiefly built with the help of some others. You are entitled to your opinions of course.

And Hepburn, most of the folks that you claim are "turned off" are not going to be customers anyway.

Some are even in the pay of other companies and troll boards to protect these companies interest. Some are just whackos. And while there have been a very loud and vociferous small group that harrasses me where ever I post, they have been far outnumbered by more sensible ones.

I would question many of this small groups motives and even selling backgrounds? I decided to not let anyone like this effect Auctionpie again.

Luckily we live in North America and anyone that wants to take a chance on their own beliefs and abilities can.

After over a year's work and lot's of obstacles Auctionpie is to go live. I was told this morning that the Beta will be live June 17th and hopefully there won't be too many glitches and it will be on schedule.

Thanks for your thoughts though, did you sign up to be a beta tester?

Sorry Jamie. I didnt mean to be insulting. I do have a tendency to be blunt (or so Ive been told, lol).
I have not been involved in your AP site, nor am "up" on what its all about. I HAVE read other boards and I have seen responses though, so Im not completely ignorant of it. To be honest, I wouldnt want to know more about selling at AP for one reason....you. And this is also not being rude..its being honest. I wouldnt shop at a store that had such negative advertising from the neigboring stores that are about AP and the owner. Nor would I rent a space at a mall that had the same reputation. And to bluntly and tackily honest, your rep isnt glowing. It puts a haze over what you are trying to sell.
Let me try to put it another way so you understand what Im trying to say (I just woke up and am having my morning coffee):
YOu are not blind yourself. You have seen some of the flack I have recieved at "other places". Now, say I started an auction site and tried to push it off on those same people who have such a field day with me. Think they would bust butt to join up? But I know my idea and new site DOES have potential. I would not be involved in the marketing of it. I would just stay the owner/founder in name, be the "behind the scenes" producer, give my input on what direction I want the site to go, be the "silent" owner, etc., and find someone respected, trusted, and knowledgable to "manage" it for me.
The owner of a rental property can be a jerk, tightwad, have obnoxious tendencies but still be owner of the property. The tenants dont know the owner. All they know is the MANAGER and the MANAGER is the opposite of the owner. The tenants dont have to deal with the owner. They deal with the manager and the rentals stay filled with happy tenants. You need a manager, Jamie.

Did that make sense?
