Although the second link is old news, they actually did do a protest march and demonstration at the funeral of slain Matthew Shepard.
Before 9-11, homosexuals were the target for Christian Hate propaganda. NOw after 9-11, add Islam and anyone of arabic/middle-eastern descent.
When will these Christians ever learn of Jesus' message of Love? Do we have to put up with their Hate Messages, taught to little children around the country, and their very large influence in our governement via the Republican Party? Are we seen as just another Hate-Religion controlled government bent on War and colonization? Is Christianity now just a religion of Hate?
When religion goes beyond the teaching of basic ethical behavior and becomes organized indoctrination, it leads to intolerance, exclusivity and hate. Fundamentalist religions are political tools and ultimately the most powerful weapons of mass destruction. History abounds with horror done in the name of some God.

These groups have selective amnesia....
They forget
"Judge not others, lest you be judged"
In the end times, they will be judged according to their own standards, and be found wanting. Mainly, their belief in Jesus the Savior. He said, "Love thy Neighbor as thyself." These groups are seriously lacking in what, I think, Christ called the second greatest commandment, Love God being the first.

Well said Helen! Although a bit off topic, here's George Carlin's take on religion. P.S. It's colourful, so keep that in mind.
"When it comes to bull$hit, big-time, major league bull$hit, you have to stand in awe of the all-time champion of false promises and
exaggerated claims, religion. No contest. No contest. Religion. Religion easily has the greatest bull$hit story ever told. Think about it. Religion has actually convinced people that there's an invisible man living in the sky who watches everything you do, every minute of every day. And the invisible man has a special list of ten things he does not want you to do. And if you do any of these ten things, he has a special place, full of fire and smoke and burning and torture and anguish, where he will send you to live and suffer and burn and choke and scream and cry forever and ever 'til the end of time!"

The point is, "How different are we from Islamic-based governments? How different are we as Christians than Islamic Fundamentalists, who also teach their kids to hate? If we are to measure Muslims everywhere in the world by those two sentances alone, then how do we measure up in comparison?" Pretty damned shabbily in my opinion.

Aren't you really talking about radicals Borillar? If some charismatic leader-type who preaches about hate, wants to form a 'religion' based on their views, they know the weak, poor, angry, ignorant, etc., will be attracted. Now imagine countries full of these types of people. It's to be expected imo.

KD, we're not immune from that very thing. That's the point I'm trying to make. All of this finger-pointing about our "justifications" for invading and creating unprovoked attacks on foreign nations is hogwash! Point-for-point, no matter what nasty you can say about them, it can be conclusively shown how and where in America that we are guilty of the very same things!

Unprovoked attacks to insure our safety is wrong. If you follow that line of reasoning, it would be wise to destroy every other country in the world in order to be safe. Iraq has been under control for the last 10 years and there is no justification for this war.
Although Christian Fundamentalists and Islamic Fundamentalists have social and political differences they are both equally fanatic and both groups are guilty of immoral acts throughout history.

Borillar...I tried to paraphrase the quote from Luke 6:42. I agree that it applies here.
How can you say to your brother..."Brother, let me pull out the speck that is in your eye" when you yourself beholdest not the beam that is in your own eye? You hypocrite, first cast out the beam from your own eye, and then you shall see clearer how to pull out the speck that is in your brother's eye.

All have sinned and have been judged unworthy.
Let he who has never sinned cast out the first stone.
We are unworthy to go punish other nations. The Iraqi people have NOT asked us to come save them! Iraq after Saddam is toppled will need occupation, otherwise whatever puppet government that we set up there (ironically, after the last puppet government that we set up there) will require our continued presence as we pump out all of that Oil.
Mark my words: this Republican Adminsitration will leave a DISASTER for the Democrats to clean up!
No, we have no right, no moral superority, not even a moral imperitve to go oust Saddam. Even if every Iraqi citizen in that country begged us on hands and knees to come in there and to save them, it would be prudent to wait and sit and think long about it before organizing a First Strike against that evil regeime. Instead, we will be creating another Islamic Fundamentalist government in the long-run. I may not be here on the RT in five years from now, so I'll say it here and now: I TOLD YOU SO!

Despite the total hypocrisy of Americans who support our going to make an unprovoked attack on Iraq, I keep hearing on TV these evangelists and Christian-right leaders telling their flocks about how wonderful they are and how terrible Islam is. Slam! Slam! Slam! All day long! Yes, KILL those dirty Arabs for being non-Christian! "Nearer my God to Thee!," as the bayonet stabs a newborn Iraqi. Parents blown to bits of bloody flesh around where once walls of their home stood. Hooray for America! Hooray for Christianity! Hooray, we're so damned Holy and Righteous, because God is on OUR side! Hooray! God Bless Us All!

Hey Borillar, you still working on that list of American Christian leaders calling for attacks on Muslims for Linda_K.? How's it coming??

You must be watching the wrong channels. I don't see any of that stuff. But then, I'm not actively searching it out either. Maybe you should splurge and subscribe to satellite service. You can get Al-Jazeera and a bunch of other Middle East stations for your daily ration of hate.
Or better yet..turn off the tv and go outside and enjoy life while you can. The sky will fall tomorrow. Lol!

Borillar, I don't see it as punishment but more of a preventative thing. I don't think anyone believes the U.S. should just go and bomb Iraq because it's a bad country, but more that, if proof is found, they should attempt to take out Saddaam for a/ harbouring/training terrorists, and b/ for secretly building WOMD to be used against Israel and the U.S.
The problem I have with bombing Iraq is I'm afraid they already have something they could use in retaliation. Saddam doesn't even seem to be worried about being bombed. That worries me! The other problem is North Korea. They are a much larger threat to the U.S. than any other country but the U.S. doesn't seem concerned. Why not? That worries me too.

I thought that our mission was to go after Al-Queda and those responsible for 9-11! The VAST MAJORITY of those responsible for master minding and putting into action the 9-11 attack are still at large and the US is showing no signs of being the least bit concerned about them. Oh, sure, our European allies and a few others around the world have gone and helped us out. But those countries that harbor Al-Queda and those whom we are supposed to be seeking, like The Sudan, just aren't even on the "Get" list at all! To top it off, we hear nonsense about how these terrorists corrupt Islam and use it to turn ignorant people into doing evil, which is true, but then they parade around like as if we don't act the same way ourselves! It's hypocrisy!

The foil beanies are for wimps. Snowy sent me the deluxe wide-brimmed model. It's a way better value, plus you can wear it to church.

LoL! Ya see Borillar? Another happy customer! I'm sure the wide-brimmed model will look chic on you. Not that I'm saying you're a fathead or anything like that. Talk to Snowy. She gives special rates to AW'ers. Heck, if you buy 2, I betcha she'd throw in free shipping. Having an extra would sure come in handy, dontcha think? You know...for emergencies.

DeSquirrel - I really don't expect to see Borillar posting articles where Christians are killing muslims or Jews because they practice a different religion. Putting guns to the heads of innocents for no other reason than that they practice another religion.
In another thread he posted two articles where, once again, muslims terrorists have killed innocents. But does he 'see' that? No....and I doubt he ever will.

There is a major pattern here.
Several people make statements like:
"We are no better, major Christian leaders have exhorted their congregations to violence against muslims ......."
And you type back: "like who?" and get nothing but hysterical abuse and name calling.
Or better, they reference western crimes from 600 years ago and equate them to the situation at hand in the 21st century.
And always the big conspiracy. It must be terrible living your life thinking you're Charlie Sheen in "The Arrival" or Kevin McCarthy in "Inv. of the body Snatchers"!
