Do I think people should be forced to take the smallpox vaccine? No, since the disease is all but dead.
But, as one of a generation that routinely *had* smallpox vaccinations as a child, I don't see what all the fuss about the vaccine is about. Same with vaccination for other diseases. Folks who make the fuss really don't know much about the diseases the vaccines combat. As a child I almost died from mumps (both sides at once), valley fever and measles. My intense case of chicken pox was no picnic, either. Since I was prone to contracting severe cases of whatever illness I got, I am profoundly thankful that I was vaccinated for such things as diptheria, whooping cough and polio. And all those diseases are not "dead"--enoguh people leave off vaccinating for them, & they'll soon learn that whatever danger the vaccines pose pale in comparison with the diseases themselves.

Fear is driving this rush to innoculation campaign....a double whammy, in fact. Now we have fear of a vaccine which as you point out, Bunnicula was not an issue when we were innoculated and fear of terrorists who apparently are going to spread the disease by use of suicide viral carriers...to a population already vaccinated?

We baby boomers are probably the last to be innoculated against small pox. Any child born in the last 30 years probably hasn't been. And there is a chance that having had my vaccination so long ago, we may be in need of boosters.However, I do agree that Bush & his cronies are doing everything they can to raise fear levels in this country in an effort to drive us into war.
