Colin. The obvious shortcomings of those described by the right as liberal is simply to have let the right define what is a liberal and assign a negative connotation to the label given.

Just as many in society view bikers as a group of low lives which we know is not true they label as liberal anyone that supports values contrary to their narrow self serving beliefs.

Discontent losers (is this code for bikers?), the unemployed (this society has created plenty of those), welfare handout seekers (do the handicapped, under educated, under employed, mentally ill and those down on their luck qualify in this group) and bloated self promoting losers (that must be your ilk). People that have a hard time making a living because they are lazy or stupid (good to see you will be hanging out with them this weekend).

Rather than attempt to educate this group of losers and malcontents shall we incarcerate them (the prison budget in this country is larger than the funds set aside for public education at a University level). Or shall we just eliminate them from the population? You have already marginalized them, it's really not that much of a stretch.

Yes, exactly. They want to insist that liberals are all socialists/communists/whiners/whatever fits their little mantra. But that argument doesn't even get off square one. The most obvious case: Most liberals I know are hard-line in defense of civil liberties i.e. freedom of speech, freedom of religion (which also includes freedom FROM religion) and due-process rights. Those liberties are the first things to fly out the window in a communist or socialist regime!

Come to think of it ... why am I suddenly seeing John Ashcroft floating in my mind's eye?......

"Most liberals I know are hard-line in defense of civil liberties"

Civil liberties like the right to own a gun? You conveniently forgot about that one. But of course citizens should not be trusted to own a gun.

Unless you are a terrorist or terrorist supporter, you have nothing to fear from John Ashcroft.

"The leaders of this country believe in some sort of trickle down theory. I believe only one thing trickles down."

Wealth in this country is there for the taking. It all depends on how hard you want to work for it.

Another red herring. Possibly you can find agrement to the importance of that right in Cleveland this evening, but maybe not.

Wealth in this country is there for the taking. It all depends on how hard you want to work for it.

How hard do you want to work for it. It's easier to trade political influence for it. I buy your hopeless ball club you get to administer the Texas Educational land trust and a key FCC ruling down the the line. By the way I'll pay way over market but that's ok, we're friends.

Thirdly wealth is followed by 10 zero's. The chump change we make does not qualify.

As to Ashcroft simply put the man is a short sighted reactionary fascist dogmatic matinette. Nothing more nothing less, incapable of critical thought. Clearly the man was chosen to the position based on his lack of creative ability. No surprises just very dull.
