Fox has come under fire most strenuously for not coming thru on a number of promises that were part of deals made with Bush. When 9/11 happened, Bush forgot about Mexico, Fox and eveything related to them. Right now, Fox is catching hell for that but I think come campaign time it could come back to bite Bush in the ass. I don't think Fox is going to be making a lot of trips across the border this time to endorse Bush. In addition to the walking away from talks regarding increased work permits, temporary labor permits allowing workers to come up during growing season and then go home during down times, and other issues, Bush has caved on following thru on enacting aspects of NAFTA including allowing Mexican truckers access to US highways (they currently can drive the products across must are limited to a small radious in which their product must be transfered to US registered vehicle. Everytime this part is about to go into action American drivers threaten to block commercial border entrances and at the last minute, the date is pushed back once again. Foxs inability to get the US to cooperate on these issues has made him appear weak and detractors are using these types of things to make him appear ineffectual in order to regain the presidency.

NAFTA is a joke and I applaud those drivers for standing up... NAFTA is a MAJOR reason we are having problems...
One thing Bush should do is tell Mexico and Canada, NO MORE NAFTA

Twelve - NAFTA is a US signed agreement that has the backing of our president - wouldn't such an action on the part of truckers count as a disruptive demonstation against government policy which have earlier been catagorized as "anti-american" and their attitude be one of "blame america first:?"

See Neon, just goes to show you that I don't agree with everything our President's do...
I was against NAFTA from day one and wrote my congressman many letters...hoping against all hope that that piece of legislation did not pass...
NAFTA has failed on so many fronts, the people of Mexico are little better off, people here have lost their jobs.
Canada is not reaping great benefits, but they out of the three; are fairing the best.
Teamsters are a very strong Union here in the US, maybe Fox and company better think about Ummmm what word.... "donations" yeah that will work, "donations" to the Teamsters...

Two men drown crossing Rio Grande
Associated Press
BROWNSVILLE -- Two brothers drowned in the Rio Grande on Tuesday while trying to enter the United States illegally from Mexico, bringing this year's tally of border-crossing drownings to at least 14, officials said.
The men, believed to be Mexicans, were among four who attempted to wade across the river about 4 miles west of the B&M International Bridge about 10:30 a.m., U.S. Border Patrol agent Eugene Montes said.
One of the victims was swept into undertow midway across the river, and the other drowned trying to save him, Montes said.
"Unfortunately, there's unseen river currents, turbulent currents, that you're not aware of until you get there," he said.
A man who had made it across sought help from a Border Patrol agent, who tried unsuccessfully to reach the victims with a lifesaving disk.

VICTORIA, Texas (AP) - Sheriff's deputies found 16 people dead in and around a tractor-trailer rig at a South Texas truck stop early Wednesday, officials said.
Victoria County Sheriff's deputies found the bodies about 2 a.m. when they answered a reported disturbance inside a trailer at a truck stop near Victoria, said Stuart Posey, a sheriff's investigator.
Justice of the Peace Jack Milam said most of the bodies were inside the trailer.
Carol Bluda, chief of staff for the sheriff's office, said investigators suspected the victims were illegal immigrants, but that off icials hadn't confirmed it.
It wasn't immediately clear how many people had been in the trailer or how long they had been there, Posey said. Victoria radio station KTXN reported that about
50 people had been inside and that 12 were taken to hospitals Wednesday, including two in intensive care.
Federal immigration agents were headed to the scene, Posey said.
The truck stop is along Highway 77, about 230 miles from the Mexican border.

"hibbertst - why don't you inform us of the "constitutional" protections that are "afforded" to aliens.
I'll bet you don't know what, if any, constitutional protections aliens have." -reamond
reamond, I have not the time for a lenghty discourse on your typically arrogant and ill conceived question.
In general, the Supreme Court has protected the right of aliens to public education, public welfare, right to earn a livelihood, to engage in licensed profession, to own property, to the equal protection of the law and to due process of law.
If the Constitution and the Bill of Rights are the expression of a universal, inherent right to be free, then those same documents apply to all men and women who arrive on our shores legally.
