That's not how I construed Bear's position in mentioning the other MUSLIM ruled nations.
I think his pointing out that Muslim ruled countries either demand that women show their faces for IDs or they aren't allowed to drive demonstrates a crack in the religious freedom argument posited by the woman.
If it is so important not to show one's face for a driver's license photo, then why is it not an issue in muslim ruled countries ?
Her "faith based" argument tend to fly out the window when confronted with Bear's examples.

This really goes against my grain, but on this one (even after reading all the posts) I still feel the veil thing should be a non-issue. No veil or no license. I remember when you didn't have to have your photo on your driver's license. I also remember using a 21-year-old friend's to buy alcohol when I was 17. We were the same height, same eye color, etc. All I had to do was memorize her DOB and SS#. Pictures on the ID's are very important. Many stores now ask you to show your license when using your credit card for identification purposes. A veiled person is indistinquishable. Just think of all the scenerios. A man dressed as a woman who turns out to be a terrorist using this woman's license to get around (I know, far fetched. But nonetheless possible). Someone with a suspended license or no license at all using this woman's license to get around. I think the possibilities are endless.
After 911 we have to be more careful and if it means we must lose some of our freedoms, I think it's a small sacrifice to keep my family safe. Not to mention that this woman has a criminal record.

mleacher.......I'm marking this day on the calandar.
And my point still is, if the Muslim countries that do allow women to drive, force them to bare their faces for DL photos, (an exception to their Muslim law), a women in the US that has converted to Muslim cannot claim religious grounds for keeping her face covered in her DL photo.
