wingman4,
ItchysFleaMarket is a reverse auction, you can create your own booth (website) we then give you your own url http://yourusername.itchysfleamarket.com we havent released this to the public as of yet we are still working on a few bugs.
its more geared for people that have alot of items and no place to sell them, this way you get your own store and website that you can inturn sell goods on.
toollady,
the pop-up you are seeing are links to donate to the september 16th relieve fund.

I would like to add that support is super. I had an image problem and a price insert problem and both were taken care of within hours, not days or weeks like eBay.

I never have had any problems except at eBay & ePier. Maybe it is a thing with e sites. Most sites give quite good support except for ePier which started out real good, but then suddenly had no concerns at all for their users. They even went as far as to call some users liars even when everyone knew the difference.
Overall, most that I have sold on, which is many have always gave adaquate suppot, but not exceptional.
I alway find the mis-spelled words after I press the submit button. Probably a few more. I hope not so many that you can't understand my message.

Thanks for the starting info on this auction site, first I have heard. I just checked the site out and am using Netscape and everything came up. Not many auctions on it but a few, some with sales. If the site can manage to draw buyers, I think that $2.50 for unlimited listings is great, since I just might have a few items that would sell for more than $25.00. The search ingine worked just fine and brought up what I was looking for, but the lettering on the actual auction page was way to small for me, still I liked the feel of the page, clear, percise ect. As soon as this auction is up for general use, which I think it is now, and gets some traffic, I belive I will attempt some auctions on it. Hey, if the item does not sell, I relist at no cost, if it sells great, either way the cost for the attempt is minimal, actually less than ebay for higher priced items, all boils down to traffic from serious buyers and keeping the site up and running. Hope the company makes it, sounds great for higher ended stuff.

I just received an email from the CEO stating that they are going to discuss the possibility of a threaded chat tomorrow.
I think this would help new members get together and learn more about the site and maybe discuss getting customers there.
A little help from the members never hurt any site.

Tried accessing the site using Netscape and was told I had to download IE, which I won't do. No auction site is worth that hassle. Oh but I did get a popup for charity.
Hot2trot, It's the Sept 11th relief fund, not the Sept 16th relieve fund.
Opals sounds like she's part of the ownership of the site. Overkill on promotion.
I have big ticket jewelry Opals and do very well on ebay. I guess it depends on which category you choose and how you present your gems. I haven't seen your auctions, but it seems to me if yours are getting lost amidst the junk, someone isn't utilizing the tools provided.

jmho2,
"Hot2trot, It's the Sept 11th relief fund, not the Sept 16th relieve fund. "
Don't know what site you are looking at but the "Sept 16th" is not on our site.
It says "Disaster Relief September 11th Cause" contribute now. which takes you to the united way not our site.
opals4u is not part of itchybid, (just a user.)
and about the netscape problem,
First: we ran webtrends on the site to see how many netscape users are hitting the site 1.8% are using netscape.
Second: if you read the entire thread you would have read that we are making a netscape version.
I would also like to remind you that we have not offically launched the site, and are making changes that the users have requested.

jmho2,
I'm sorry for going off like that, just tired of explaining the netscape problem it is not your fault and I should not have gone off the way I did.
I will explain the netscape problem in some detail to better explain.
When we built the site we took several things into consideration, one of them was interaction. we didnt want to have to refresh the page to load new data so we went with the xml-dom object. netscape doesnt support this object however. so we decided to do a test with the object to see how it would hold up. it works great the only draw back is the netscape problem.
we are currently rewriting the site to except netscape, and to get around the refresh problem we are going to use dhtml which will allow netscape to refresh without updating the whole page.
If you have anymore questions feel free to ask.
Hot2Trot
PS
If you want to get around the netscape check
just type in:
http://www.itchybid.com/index.asp
this should allow you to bypass the netscape check keep in mind that the site will do strange things and may look a little different than in ie.
First of all, I am neither a she, nor is my real name Opals. Opals is what I sell as a main line.
I also sell Navajo Jewelry and that is or was (still active) my eBay username. I have not sold Navajo Jewelry on eBay since the Jewelry category turmoil nearly a year ago on eBay.
Since you say you do so well on eBay, I hope you wouldn't mind giving your eBay username, so I can see by your listings what I may have been doing wrong. I have been selling for years and thought I knew quite well how to catagorize and list my items, but if there is someone that knows more, I am always willing to listen.
edited for typo!

First of all I'd like to thank toollady for her astuteness in catching that quote of the "Sept. 16th relieve fund" I couldn't make it back here in time to explain that myself.
Due to the initial outburst from Itchybid staff, I regret I will not be using the site.
If one staff member is tired of explaining, perhaps Itchybid would care to appoint a customer service person to these threads. It may solve a lot of problems as well as give potential users some insight as to how the site will be run and how receptive the cs reps are to users.
As for my ebay user ID, that's kept separate from AW due to various reasons, which I'm sure everyone can understand. There's a thread here asking people why they don't use their real names, I believe. Some reasons for that are the same for using ebay user ID's.
Good luck to all and moderator, I hope this post is more acceptable to the guidelines.
Just want to add, sorry to opals4u for thinking you were a "she". I don't know what possessed me as I normally never make that assumption.

There is no place for any personal comments in this thread, people. You know better. Stick with the subject matter.
