OK, you got me on this one. They don't hate just the Americans. However, it's American culture that they see infringing on their way of life, which increases their hatred of us even more.
You misunderstand me. I am absolutely NOT pro-Christian, and I dare you to show me anywhere where I said I was. Christians are no better in their beliefs. HOWEVER, you don't generally see them strapping bombs onto their backs.
BOTH religions have stuff about killing non-believers, but the Muslims simply take it more seriously. That probably says something about the true lack of faith of Christians, but at least we can all live with them. Falwell is a right-wing nutcase, but I really doubt he would ever convince his followers to suicide-bomb anyone. Except maybe Larry Flynt
Again, I am NOT anti-Muslim. If anything, I am anti- organized religion of ANY kind.

Reamond - My father renewed his contract a number of times. The only reason they made the decision to leave was because he felt he would be unable health wise to finish out another contract and it was time to go home. About halfway thru their stay they attempted to bring me over. I don't believe that my father would attempt to bring a teenage daughter into a hostile situation.

Replay - you also misunderstood me. I was not implying that you are beholden to the Christian belief system. My point was that there are aspects of the Christian bible that if taken literally are rather appalling and extremeist. It is generally accepted thought that those particular aspects are not beholden to by all Christians. That same benefit is not granted towards followers of the Koran.
Unfortunately the most vocal and publicized Muslims are the extremists and for that reason, all muslims have been painted with the same brush. That is like stating that all persons of Aryan descent hated and wished for the death and destruction of Jews.

I'm not Reamond, but I'll throw in my definition.
A terrorist is a violent idealogical extremist which is officially unsupported by a government.
Not necessarily religious, not necessarily Arab. The Unabomber certainly qualifies, as do many environmental groups.
WHY do they exist? Because they have strong beliefs for which they cannot get public support, and they see violence and fear as their only option.
If you can't get the government to outlaw abortions, you simply start killing abortion doctors. If the government won't stop cutting down the forests, you spike trees. Animal researchers got you down? Raid the labs. There are lots of terrorists that aren't Muslim.
Criminals? Usually, due to the violence involved. Sometimes, like the environmentalists, their actual goals are not "evil."

It is NOT American culture, it is Americans, especially American business trying take and steal everything from them.
PRIME EXAMPLE: IRAQ NOW!
There are 100,000 engineer types and contractors in Iraq. Many of them trained in the US. Why are they NOT being hired to rebuild IRAQ? Because Haliburton wants to make the big bucks by charging exorbitant prices for actually little or no work. Remember they were hired to put out Oil Fires? Then why are the Army Corp of engineers always called to put on oil fires?
