Any assumptions you make beyond that are made in ignorance

It is not ignornce when using facts made available by you and from your postings... YOU talk alot of sh*t about your skills and abilities... but more likely you are the type teacher NCLB was made for.

Put up or shut up...

argue to the issues, Twelvepole, and cut out the inane insults. They make you sound ignorant. How was school when you were a kid?

the only insult I see is your post there dragonmom... you seem like the nosey type so how about going back and reading some past threads or is this another "I know how it is spelled..." post...

I was not singling out Profe, he is taking it that way.. too bad...

Seems to me he "doth protest" too much....

We all know that teachers are the main reason for NCLB, and their lack of commitment to the student and their greed for the dollar...

Put up or shut up...

I don't know what that means. What is it you'd like me to put up? I gave you some facts and figures in my previous post, and you responded with nonsense and insults...it figures.

The fact is, I have talked very little "sh*t" about my skills and abilities. If I'm wrong about that, please post links to threads wherein I have "talked a lot of sh*t" about my skills and abilities. I wasn't going to respond to this thread, but I cannot abide your and others simplistic "blame the teachers" attitude. You'd much rather call names and sling personal insults than actually discuss issues. Oh well....

Profe, I realise you might have thought my post was an attack at the teachers.. I didn't mean it that way. What is true is that there are good teachers and bad teachers- and a slogan is not going to change that fact. And any teacher will do better if he or she has a reasonably sized class to work with- and a decent infrastructure for backup. Demanding test scores isn't enough. The best way to get the scores is to give the kids enough time to learn what they need.

You're exactly right, enough time, and an environment in which they can learn. Remember how we were told as kids that being in school was a privilege? Well, that isn't true any more. It's a right, and kids know it. It has been proven over and over in the courts. Disruptive students who have been removed from class have sued their schools and teachers for violating their rights to an education. The rights of the other 20 odd students who were being distracted by the troublemaker be damned. In a 7 hour school day, with a class of 25 students, once you subtract out recess, lunch and one special area class (music, p.e. etc), an individual student's share of me comes out to about 12 minutes. In the best of situaltions, all things running smoothly, a kid can hope to have 12 minutes a day of one-to-one time with the teacher. Now subtract all the time teachers have to spend dealing with chronically disruptive students, and those who simply cannot stay on task unless they are being watched, and that 12 minutes can dwindle pretty fast. The single most important advantage that private schools have over public is the ability to select their student populations. Disruptive students can be removed from school, so that teachers have more time with and a positive learning environment is created for those students who are serious about learning.

The first thing would be to actually find a teacher who gave a damn... they are scarce as hens' teeth...

Maybe things will be better when the Supreme Court reinstates the Pledge of Allegiance with ONE NATION UNDER GOD...

A pledge 12, for some people, is nothing more than that.

Apart from "NO CHILD LEFT BEHIND"
Take for example:
US Debt to the UN:
31 June 2003
Regular Budget: $531 million 50%)
Peacekeeping: $529 million (48%)
Total: $1.108 billion (47%)
