Here's the news today

Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton, right, smiles after handing over a bag with goods to U.S. Army 1st Lt. Michael Tiso from Mt. Tremer, N.Y. at Camp Wolverine in Kuwait City on Saturday, Nov. 29, 2003. The bag contained presents sent to 1st Lt. Tiso by his cousin Karen Keogh who works with Senator Clinton's office in the U.S. Clinton was on a brief visit to Kuwait. (AP Photo/Gustavo Ferrari)

I believe that was really good of her to go there.

NTS - Expensive way to deliver a 'care package'.

-----------

Helen - clinton sent our troops to start bombing Kosovo on March 24, 1999. The war lasted 78 days. Your clinton thanksgiving speech was given in November, 99. FIVE months AFTER the war was over. Different ball game all together.

What I don't understand is why post President Clintons speech to the troop that was done during his administration, oh about 5 years ago? When this is about the current administration?

I know, I know, you'll post what you want and where you want....I forgot about that

Linda, if you read the caption on the picture, first thing that I noticed was they had to point out which one was Hillary? as it says: Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton, right, smiles after handing over a bag with goods......

And the presents were for the 1rst Lt. above from someone that works for the Senator.

At first, it was a smaller pic on go2net and it looked like a frozen turkey... hey thats what I thought until I 'clicked to enlarge' it.

No, I'm not making fun of her. She is a brave woman, who is concerned for our troops.

NTS - Yes, she does most likely care about our troops. And her vote helped send them there.

My statement on costs....was because we all know with the SS how much it costs to protect her too. And as this President has been accused of using this for political gain, maybe she's using it for her own political gain. Only they know for sure how sincere they feel about what they do.
-----------

I liked yellowstone's statement the best. Had to go see for herself because she's too used to be lied to by the presidents. Cracked me up.

jewelry21, when you were in the US ARMY Special Forces, and were in major combat, and that was over, weren't there 'rebels' that the military had to stay and fight with?
I'm not a military expert at all, but your having been in the special forces more than likely know a lot more.

I mean, when a war is over, the major combat and conflict, does every enemy surrender, throw down their guns, everything is silent, everything goes on to be normal? Did that happen in WW1 WWII, Korea and elsewhere?

When I was in Special Forces was when I learned not to trust what The Whitehouse
had to say. They sold us out more than one time in Nam over 50,000 good men lost. for nothing. In a war we should have never been in in the first place. And Iraq is going to be the same if we don't wake up. I have and will fight to the death for our freedom. But in my 61 years I can see those freedoms being lost one at a time. But mainly because of the indifferent people in this country that only ask whats in it for me. I heard Gi"s today saying I sign on for a education not to go to war. Hell when I signed up we got $78.00 a month and $55.00 Combat Pay.
And then got sh-t when we got back to the US. D-m right I'm Bitter when I see our troops being killed so some SOB can make a few more million.

Certainly was !!! There was VICTORY in Kosovo and Clinton was WELCOMED by the troops and by the people throughout the country. It's too bad that Bush had to sneak in and out for just a quick 2 hour photo-op. "Different ball game altogether"-- That's right.

jewelry21, we all are truley grateful for you and all the others that have served our country

I think I understand about being treated like crap when returning, Mike related a similiar story only once.

He was only a pilot there, I don't think he was Special Forces.

We all do appreciate the vets!

Yes, jewelry21, and it was. Saddam was no longer in control of his country at that point.

President Bush also said during that speech:

We have difficult work to do in Iraq. We're bringing order to parts of that country that remain dangerous. We're pursuing and finding leaders of the old regime who will be held to account for their crimes.

And we will stand with the new leaders of Iraq as they establish a government of, by and for the Iraqi people. The transition from dictatorship to democracy will take time, but it is worth every effort. Our coalition will stay until our work is done and then we will leave and we will leave behind a free Iraq.

Which is just what we're doing.

Thank You Thank You very much. To this day yet I cry everytime I see a flag draped coffin coming home. Know one knows how it feels until they have to wipe their buddies blood and guts off of their face after a frag or a land mine went off. The only thing I have to show for my service to my country is a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart. Ask Any Combat Vet and They will tell you War is Hell.

Nearthesea,

It served many purposes. The major one for the Bush administration was PR or as I said, photo-op. And he did a magnificent job! Can you imagine any other president in the history of our country doing that?

It would have been a class act if he had left all the photographers at home. But then classy is not his style.

Other recent good news from hillary's own views.

WASHINGTON - Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton said Friday the United States "must stay the course" in both Afghanistan and Iraq and called for more military personnel to finish the job.

"We have to exert all of our efforts militarily, but the outcome (in Iraq) is not assured," she said.

The morale of the troops, she said, "is very high," but she said the military personnel with whom she spoke in meetings and during "two turkey dinners" wanted to know "how the people at home feel about what we are doing."
" "Americans are wholeheartedly proud of what you are doing,' " Clinton said she replied, " "but there are many questions at home about the (Bush) administration's policies.' "

"I left Afghanistan feeling very positive about what our military personnel had accomplished there, but I am not very confident that we have adequate forces to accomplish the many missions we have been asked to handle," Clinton said.

Clinton's trip to Iraq was overshadowed by President Bush's quick visit to Baghdad Airport on Thanksgiving. Asked to comment, Clinton said, "It's a positive for the commander in chief to visit the troops in the field."

The above copied and pasted from the Boston News.
Correction....sorry. It was the Buffalo News...not the Boston News

JEWELRY21 “When I was in Special Forces was when I learned not to trust what The Whitehouse “

Like they say, ‘the first casualty of war is truth’ And that’s the same I’m sure for a German, Iraqi, or any soldier.

JEWELRY21 “Hell when I signed up we got $78.00 a month and $55.00 Combat Pay. And then got sh-t when we got back to the US”

I’m only in my early 40’s so quite possibly ‘by default’ I wasn’t one of those that gave sh-t to returning Vietnam vets.
But, if I was a little older I may have reacted in a similar way to many of those misguided fools that criticised you.
Hopefully today, I think we are better informed, with the net and all, and will be more understanding of our troops upon their return.

JEWELRY21 “The only thing I have to show for my service to my country is a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart.”

Even though I have no military experience, and have little to no knowledge of military decorations, I have heard of your medals and can say that the image it conjures in my mind is of a man that engaged in a heroic act at risk of life in extreme circumstances.

Your medals may well be worth little if measured by the monetary value of the metal within them but your sacrifices to earn them are worth more than the weight of any president or prime minister in gold.

Our leaders today would be lucky to muster up 60% support of our nations at the best of times, but our support and respect for you is 100%.

Thank you JEWELRY21 and all Australian Veterans too for your selfless service to us.

Jewelry 21 I knew that you were a Viet Vet, and unfortunately you were treated somewhat shabbily... however we won the Gulf War and Saddam needed removal.

Those of us that fought in the Gulf knew this would happen eventually, this administration is doing what needs to be done.

This sniper killing is a result of our President bowing into pressure and letting the "nice" war begin....

AIN'T LIFE GRAND...
