We probably can't even see the changes it will make.
Who would have seen the changes the automobile would make?

Paid genome donors?
Discrimination against gene mod people?
Children with three or more biological parents.
Children with animal or completely artificial genes inserted?
People who can digest cellulose?
People adapted to zero G?
People who create most of their own vitamins internally? Or self -vaccinate?

But isn't the cloning being discussed about cloning human embryo cells to retrieve the stem cells?

Pardon me for thinking ahead, Krafty...

Krafty perhaps that is all Bush and Co. are thinking of now but the people who are pursuing this technology have a much deeper vision. Once you can fix the damaged genes and direct the normal expression it is a very small step to altering them. If the opposers don't see that then they would be scared even worse if they did. To creationists it is changing God's blueprint but even some evolutionists are pretty scared at the idea of sticking a finger in process they could also view as sacred. The culmination of millions of years of sorting and refining.

Definition of Aryana from the Urban dictionary-

A 32 year old white male from a South Carolina trailer park who likes to go on message boards and pretend he is a 15 year old female, viking separatist but who spells it seperatist.

How long before some human comes along equipped with all this genetic knowledge and attempts to create the master race! History shows that men have been thinking about this, at least as far back as the Spartans. Classes of people, those genetically enhanced and those who are not!

All right, Sweetie Pie, now that the formalities are out of the way. How long before someone attempts this?

I see - So if the whacko Kim launches a nuclear war across the border and incinerates millions in nuclear fire he will really be God's instrument of divine retribution.

No. In my opinion, it is inevitable that Korea is going to end up being a nuclear battlefield UNLESS there is some help from above.

So, EAG, your earlier remark was incidental -- as opposed to integral? Okay...

KC, since I'm not giving blowjobs to the stem-cell researchers in Korea right now, I have no idea

Don't worry! Our government has done extensive work in this area, more so than they might be willing to admit. The fact that South Korea has perfected cloning is really nothing.

B-J's huh!

If God gets angry, He can cause some very bad things to happen or just stand back and let them happen on their own. Like 9/11.

Just my opinion.

Where does the Devil sit in your scheme of things, EAG?

I know that evil exists but I'm not sure if there is a "devil." Jesus used parables to teach and so I wonder if symbolism was used in other parts of the Bible. The "devil" might be symbolic for evil in the world. "Hell" might be symbolic for death of the soul. Creating the world in 7 days might be symbolic for evolution.

I don't understand everything in the Bible but I do believe that it's the Word of God. Try reading the Book of John. It will blow you away.

Gene Therapy Could Lead to Super Athletes
Muscle Building Gene Therapy Might Build Super Athletes, Scientist Warns

The Associated Press

SEATTLE Feb. 16 — A gene therapy that has been shown in rats to double muscle strength and power could illegally be used to build super athletes, a researcher said Monday. Sports officials are looking for ways to detect the genetic manipulation.
Lee Sweeney of the University of Pennsylvania said that laboratory studies show that injecting a virus carrying the gene for insulin-like growth factor 1 into lab rats caused their target muscles to grow in size and strength by 15 to 30 percent.

When the technique was used on rats that were also put through an exercise program, the animals doubled their muscle strength.

"The things we are developing with diseases in mind could one day be used for genetic enhancement of athletic performance," Sweeney said at the national meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.

Richard Pound of McGill University and the World Anti-Doping Agency, an organization that polices performance-enhancing drugs in international athletics, said his agency already has passed regulations forbidding genetic manipulation in athletes. But he is concerned that the new muscle-building therapy may not be easily detected.

"We would like to be there early (in the research) and to help regulate it," said Pound. "We'll find a way."

There are blood and urine tests to detect most performance-enhancing drugs, but the gene therapy detection would be much more difficult.

Sweeney said that the presence of added genes in muscle could be detected now only through a muscle biopsy, a severely invasive procedure.

The gene therapy is being developed to increase the strength of muscles for the elderly and for treatment of muscular dystrophy, a muscle wasting disorder. Sweeney said that as people age, muscles weaken and his lab is trying to determine if gene therapy would slow or reverse this decline.

"The same approaches could be used in a normal person's muscles to make a them stronger and better able to repair themselves," said Sweeney. It would also keep the muscle at its peak performance for a longer period of time, he said.

The treatment has not been tried on humans because of safety concerns and Sweeney said it may be years before it is ready for human clinical trials.

But word of the research has reached the sports community and Sweeney said that half of the e-mails he receives now come from athletes or trainers wanting to get information about the muscle-building therapy.
