Shamoy, thanks for asking. she's actuallly doing better! I just got home from work and gave her chicken, defatted chicken broth and steamed (via microwave( zuccini with some plain baked and she ate most of it. I think the 2 X's a day fluids and the epogen injection every other day is helping. She even took a long walk last night. Not my idea, her's. she brought her leash to me. So, my son and I took her for a walk. I haven't seen her tail wag so hard in such a long time. Still doesn't have the energy she had before but we walked down to the corner and back.
Thank you so much for posting all of the links. I didnt have time to check them all but I will now. I had to act quickly because I was running out of the epegen which costs 60 dollars a pop. I found it on drugstore.com. I was VERY impressed with their customer service and prices. Thank god these drugs are the same ones people use. WHEW.
I TRULY Appreciate all of the info and help with this

Well, I thought I would update you all on what's happened so far with her. She is FINALLY stable for now. She's gained back 3 pounds and is eatting again. Thanks so much for the links. It REALLY was a wonderful start. Actually, if I didnt have those, she would honestly, probably be dead by now. If anyone else ever has to do through this nightmare, please check into k9kidney group on Yahoo that mcjane listed. What a god send! Great support and wonderful info.
Found the cheapest place to get this dog her ringers lactate IV solution was at valleyvet.com. Alot better service than most that I checked into and their prices were the cheapest for this particular item. As far as her medicines go, the best place, easiest, nicest people were at drugstore.com and the turn around time after ordering the meds was very quick too.
bunnicula, sorry I didnt mention it earlier but now that I can finally take a breath I reread your post. How cute! A grey hound in your lap! Molly tried to jump in my lap today again. Hasnt done that in awhile. Don't thinks she's feeling too good. Maybe tomorrow will be better.
shamoy, your info really got me started. She refuses the canned kd so I have been cooking her food: rice noodles, chicken, zuccini, white rice, potatoes, egg whites (not the yolks, too much phosphorus), white bread, rice crispies cereal Oh the list is endless. By the way, she eats peaches and cottage cheese, not the other way around. If there are no peaches you can forget the cottage cheese. Kind of funny I started cooking for her and for my son and my self. Got too complicated. I modify our food for her. BUT I am also gaining the weight along with the dog. Imagine that! GEE, I wonder why (I am being sarcastic here)
Did you agree with twelve on this thread? I had to pinch myself to make sure I was still alive.
Palmoa
So glad to hear your dog is doing better! What a relief that must be. The same thing happened to a friend's dog. At that time, the only thing the dog would eat were Wendy's Frostys, believe it or not. His dog is doing better as well. Pound dogs are without a doubt the best dogs of all.
Yes, both twelvepole and I had the same answer. I based my suggestion on my efforts to keep a 14 year old dog with multiple health problems alive. Finally, when he could not walk I had him put to sleep. Looking back I see that I was spending much time, energy and money only to prolong his misery. So, when I made that comment I was considering the quality of this dog's life and frankly, with kidney failure, the prognosis didn't look good to me.
I love dogs so I am happy to know that paloma was able to save Molly's live when even a veterinarian thought she was a "goner".

Libra, When my comment is questioned I will respond, just as most anybody would. My comment that you consider unnecessary was offered as a sincerely felt explanation and not as informative advice.

I am so glad I had "email on". What a happy day to see this thread come up again with such great news.
How many times did I want to email you about Molly...everyday, but I was afraid of what I might hear.
Isn't it rewarding to see Molly improving day by day with what your doing. I think your wonderful for not giving up, never do that when there is a chance.

Helen please don't jump to conclusion so fast. I was not refurring to your post. I honestly didn't read it. Which I usually skim over yours anyway. I was answering a website to Paloma which she didn't need so please I won't say I am sorry because I am not but my post was not directed to you. I went back and read your posting and I see there is nothing in that post of yours to comment on.
