I saw an ad on tv for Arnold's body building contest and the usual line-up of pumped up men in speedo's. What would make someone want to look that way? Do guys think it looks good? The women body builders look like men, imo. Do they think they're attractive? Have you noticed that they all look like they've been barbequed?

Hey kraft- As much as I appreciate beautiful women of all nationalities, I have absolutely no interest in female body builders. The grease is not particularly attractive either. I would guess they appeal to a smaller group of men than the % of male body builders who appeal to women.

I think the women body builders, the ones that are the extreme body building types, look, well, um, I'll just say it isn't something I would want to look like (saying that, because I don't 'check out' women ) Most of the extreme ones are flat chested (that happens BECAUSE of the process of body building, and Lord, the muscles would seem unattractive to me, if I were a guy that is LOL!
As for the men..... I don't think I like THAT much buff Mike worked out all the time when I first met him, I remember one of the first times my girls met him, it was summer, and he was wearing one of those sleeveless tank tops, they had a friend with them, and their friend burst out: WOW, he's BUFF! LOL! He was so embarrassed! (no he does not have the bod like Arnold LOL) I bring it up to him now and then, and he still gets embarrassed and after that incident, he won't wear those tank top shirts anymore!

I think what you are missing is that they are doing it for themselves, not for others. If you read the stories of some of the female competetors it is many times a situation where life was out of control for one of a variety of reasons andthey found that when they got in the gym and started working out they found a place where their work gave them control over something. (OK - men too but it seems to be a little more common among the women) I can understand that. I enjoy working out, I enjoy the way I feel the rest of the day. I would never take it to the extremes tha body builders do but I have to give them credit for the extreme dedication it takes to go to those levels.
As for the barbequed look - those spray on tanners and the pills just cann't replace the real thing

Lots of people stay in shape and don't have any flab through exercise or hard work, but don't look like body builders. It's not just a muscles or flab thing.I don't think the human body was ever meant to look the way bodybuilders look. If it was, it wouldn't take them so much work to achieve it, and their bodies wouldn't go to pure fat when they stop working out...they look freakish to me...

i think they enjoy seeing themselves in the mirror, just like the tattoo thing or wearing earrrings or using eyeshadows.
it is hard for a woman to stay firm, women lack that male hormone-testaterone(sorry for spelling) which builds muscle.
how many women over 40 do you know who are firm??

If you are looking to tone and burn more calories then the best work out is not aerobic but with weights. High rep low weight routine 3 times a week for about an hour. Most gyms have personal trainers available or include a one or two free sessions when you sign up. Talk to the trainer about specific areas you are looking to tone and have them recommend a work out for you. If you are motivated to do a daily workout then then you need two routines, 1 upper and 1 lower body that you alternate days on. When you feel you are no longer advancing in your routine, work with the trainer again to switch things around some.
Oh and BTW - you don't look in mirrors anymore with tattoos than without. I forget I even have mine sometimes till someone comments on one. People get tattos for a variety of reason, some are cosmetic, some spritual, some ritual.

thanks,i will look into weight lifting,i recall all the weight lifters i know just eat like a horse and ballon in size.
but a personal trainer, sounds good to me.
when people first get their tattoo,i bet they look.
someone once told me if one does not like his/her shape of the body, the only way to change it is with weightlifting.
i see dancers are in good shape.or are they in good shape to begin with??

Remember, there is a big difference bewtween "lifting weights" and becoming a "weight lifter". Weight lifters consume a diet and suppliments that are designed specifically to help them bulk up. Eat and lift intelligently and you will tone your muscles, help give them definition and burn fat.
As for dancers... they work their tails off. If I were you I would take Tango too. How can you go wrong with something that fun?

the problem with tango is that it does not burn that much energy and it is not a solo dance.we have a workout place nearby but it looks so tacky,i dont even want to go inside.
i used to live close to auniversity, after work i just changed clothes and walk there, all the students work out there and it makes you want to work out more.
now how about bellydancing,i have seen some arab men who can really move their tummy??

LOL! You know you can get belly dancing instructional DVDs too for when you don't feel like going out. I think there is also one now for the "stripper workout"

I have quite a lot of tattooing, and I can tell you that I didn't get them because I like staring at myself in the mirror! My ears are pirced as well, but the same thing goes there. I don't use eyshadow or other make-up, but I don't imagine most women (& some men ) wear it because of that, either.
